A drive in the country sure does wonders for your aching spirit. We left here and took the back road from Nana Glen up to Bucca. There's Lower Bucca, Central Bucca , Upper Bucca and even Old Bucca - but no towns, just small settlements scattered through the bush. People do things like grow flowers and other small cash crop. The countryside is so green and the bush is magnificent. Eucalypts of every variety - paper bark, red gum, grey gum, scribbly bark, iron bark and the breath taking ghost gums. Along the country roads the bush grows right down to the road side and you feel you are miles from everywhere. The noise from the ciccadas is deafening. We spotted a kangaroo grazing on a bank. We then travelled the highway for a few miles. Lots of holiday traffic, in complete contrast to the little winding road we had just been on. The temperature seemed to rise several degrees and I was glad when we turned off at Half Way Creek and headed to Kungala, on to Glenreagh where we bought one of their famous pies and headed home through Nana Glen and Coramba.Back home to sit on the back verandah. The neighbours flock of geese were wandering around the paddock. The gander keeps a close eye on his harem , never straying too far from his girls. They momentarily disappeared over the creek bank, only to reappear several moments later, honking happily at whatever delicasies they had discovered there. (hopefully 100s of leeches!)I'm very lucky to live in this wonderful part of the world. Even if the garden does look like a wreckers yard!
