While sitting outside the pub the other night I overheard a young girl recounting a visit to a friends place. She said ' there was this totally random dude sitting on the couch'. I've never met any 'totally random dudes', in fact I wouldn't recognise one if he stood up in my porridge, but I've certainly had quite a few random thoughts of late. Probably due to the memoir writing. Let me give you an example which just popped into my head yesterday.Twenty five years ago give or take a few months my bridesmaid was helping me get ready for the Big Day. While I was in the shower she decided to iron my veil. I don't know what possessed her to do such a thing, but she melted a big hole in a very expensive and compulsory accessory. It was Saturday afternoon and in those days, the shops closed at noon. We had a look in the phone book and luckily found a lady who sold bridal accessories from her home so off we went.We were so embarrassed that we didn't tell her what had happened and just pretended we were looking around. She had a very suitable veil for $15 and as she wrapped it she of course, asked when the wedding was. 'In about 2 hours' we laughed. We left her standing at her front door with a very strange look on her face. She probably thought we were a couple of random dudes.

A lovely story to which I cannot relate... I was married in the 80\'s and we did it like the seventies. My only guest was grandma (she would have been so hurt if not), and we were married by my former\'s gay minister uncle. In retrospect, a gay minister married his gay nephew to me. That just seems so bizarre! What a life lesson, but I still like the guy as we kindof grew up together (met at 18).

Honestly between my marriage and my current partnership, I knew far too many Random Guys, and I know I was a Random Bit-- to them as well. I always figured what was good for the goose way also good for the gander. For four years, I was a wild womyn... xoxoxo Cj

I\'ll tell you what a \"Random Dude\" is. I encounter them quite often living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

A Random Dude is a guy who just appears seemingly out of nowhere when you\'re hanging out with you\'re friends in your backyard and drinks all your beer, then leaves. You ask Susie, \"Did you invite that dude?\" and she says, \"No, I thought Brian did.\" So you ask Brian if he invited him. Brian says, \"No, I thought he was a friend of yours.\" Hence...Random Dude.

Or...

A \"Random Dude\" is the guy with a really long beard who walks up to you, pulls down his pants, and shits on your shoe...xoxo Jen
