Apart from writing here I've started writing my memoirs. It's good for my brain, trying to dredge up events from long ago and far away. I figure that one day I will not be able to recall much detail so it's good to get it down while it's still relatively clear in my mind. Some of the things I write make me laugh, like the family picnic when I ended up falling out of the canoe and had to spend the day in my underwear. Funny that most of the photos of that day include me looking very sulky. Some of the things make me very nostalgic, such as my three years teaching in a small country town when I went completely feral and almost lost my job. It's a fascinating process. I started thinking that it would be a chronoogical account but the more I write, the more side tracked I become. For instance, I spent 20 years working as a funeral director and in writing about some of my experiences, I wanted to tell some of the stories of some of the people I had dealt with. Here's a little paragraph from the early part of my life when we arrived in Australia. We stopped at Fremantle , on the west coast for about 12 hours before heading on to Sydney. Finally we arrived in Australia and docked at Freemantle. For reasons which elude me now, Dad decided to take us on a train ride. We had less than a day's stop over but he thought there would be time to see the countryside. It was a tedious trip of endless bush landscape and no kangaroos in sight! When we arrived back at the station Dad realised he had cut things a little fine. By the time we reached the dock the ship was ready to pull out and the gang plank had been raised. The only way back on board was via the Jacob's Ladder, which we all unceremoniously climbed, accompanied by a tremendous cheer from those on deck.I made a decision that I wouldn't write anything hurtful or that couldn't be read by the person I was writing about. Of course, that means I wont write all the miserable details of my ex's behaviour or the hair raising experiences which arose out of my breif fling with on line dating.

Darling, I plan to do the same, but I\'m not trusting my memory... I journal now at 43, so when I\'m older and want to publish, I have the memories remembered...LOL Whatever you do with your memoirs, I\'d LOVE to read! Honestly, this is why I always love your journals on DS. Your writing speaks to me... xoxoox Cj
What do you mean you went \"a little feral\"? I\'m not quite convinced you\'ve been tamed yet!
I find that writing about my past takes me in so many different directions I end up writing about something completely different than what I planned...such fun! And darling...we always have to protect the innocent. I am always writing about Deter. (My husband\'s name is Peter.) And I write about someone called Smelly..(I have a sister named Kelly.) Oh..and some lovely people called Mim and Dud, Hmmm, wonder who they could be? Kisses -Jen
