God has blessed me with a wonderful sense of humour and I'm relying on it , and Him to see me through whatever lies ahead.I am daily reminded of many lovely things in my life and I take enjoyment from small moments, inspirational thoughts and the myriad of new experiences that MS has brought me.I belong to a few forums which have discussions from poetry to current affairs. Today on a parenting forum I noticed this line written under a signature:DISABILITY DOES NOT MEAN INABILITY.Which reminds me that before I forget too many of the details I must write an account of my experiences with Centrelink ( for non Aussies, it's a government department which controls pensions). When I walked into the building I was confronted with these huge escalators which looked as though they were going through the clouds. Fortunately there was a lift, because even with a stick I could not have climbed aboard that stairway to heaven! When I reached the office, I discovered that I couldn't actually read any of the signs ( I've got a pirate patch) but hallelujah I spotted a familiar face and was able to get help.An hour and a half later my forms were all filled in. But this was not the end. Several days later I had to have an assessment for job suitability. I'm really hanging on to my sense of humour here because I can't drive, stand for any period of time, walk very far or concentrate for long periods. I don't know what sort of job they will come up with for me.My partner says I can get a job on a sex line. He's funny.( he'd be my only caller I'm sure !!) Up until a few months ago I was teaching high school, and I miss it some days. I'm very resiliant, though, I'm learning to love Oprah and Dr Phil !!
