i recieved an email from him on tuesday. he said exactly the same thing. no responsibility, that i could see anyways. maybe i have tunnel vision, but for someone to claim that they have absolutely no other ideas of how to deal with thier pain than drinking, i want to punch them in the face. what does he think i'm going to say? i'm an addictions therapist for crying out loud. this is SO stupid. i wrote back and ripped him another one. mostly stated that i'm done if he's going to choose to handle his problems this way. i called his bluff...yet again...asked for daily contact...yet again...and today? nothing. i mean, i don't want to break up with him over email but i will if i have to. that seems to be the only way that i feel like i'm getting my point across. because i am new to this relationship thing, i don't know how long to give him to pull out of this. i'm not going to wallow with his, especially when there are so many simple things that he could be doing...even if he does them AND drink. but no. just drink. that's it. i mean, do i do that when i eat? or do i do that in conjunction with the other things? i do know that there was a time when i didn't care. i suppose that's why i'm so reluctant to let him go. besides, it took me 28 years to find a man who didn't care what i looked like. i'm really afraid (i totally understand that this is irrational) that i won't again for a long time. i finally understand why people don't leave. but he's making this so easy. all i'd have to do is email. done and done. but i can't seem to do it. yet. it's times like this that i really miss my dad. he'd have the answer. on a different note, the new job is keeping me focused on my affirmations because i'm teaching a whole new group of people how to do them. if it weren't for this job, i'd be going crazy. nothing like therapy to make you realize that you're are so very very blessed.

Not sure how to help with all this since I know there is a lot going on with your situation that I probably don\'t know. Maybe he is feeling so down and low that he feels like he doesn\'t deserve you and that is why he is being so passive about all this. He doesn\'t truly want to lose you or I would think he would have broken up wtih you already. That being said, he sounds like he is getting lost in the drinking and is letting things slip away and is not fighting it. You know being a therapist can be a blessing because it gives you insight others might not have but it is also a curse because you know the real deal and what he needs to do to face his drinking. And you also know that the advice you would give someone else in this exact situation sounds completely different when it has to do with you. Hopefully he will come around soon, and if not I know you will be able to figure out what you need to do. I can understand why you might be scared to start dating all over again, but I also know that you would also not be happy if you stayed with someone who doesn\'t treat you right. Hmmm...sounds like more advice I am giving that I don\'t take for myself :) Boy it is so much easier to give it than take it. I hope things work out the way that they need to for you. I will be here if you need to yell or cry or just call him lots of names lol. Take care!
