Hello dear friends, hope to find you well on this day. This morning got up and my legs are getting better, less swollen. Yesteday I told myself if laying down with my legs up doens't work, (did that all week), I'm gonna walk around and do my laundry, (washer & dryer In the basement), and clean the house, and drink loads of water, and see what gives, well this am, my ankles are almost normal size. I will do the same today.I've been reading up on Salt and Fluid Restriction, on patient who have advance stage of cirrhosis. Like I know I only have bridging of fibrosis, and no longer have the virus of hep c, but I sometime wonder if the swelling ankles, swelled up stomach, gainning weight our of the blue, could be link to my liver. Diuretics are often recommended to patient with liver problems, I remember a year and a half ago, I went to Hebal Magic to try to loose weight. The products are very expensive and you are given this journal, you must write in your daily intake of food. The food intake consist, of 3 fruits, 3 veggies, 2 protein (meat)(egg), no startch or pasta. Before even starting the program you need to pay 1400.00$ to get into this program, then you must buy the weekly pills that are supose to help loose weight and that cost me 60$ a week, and that's not mentionning all the other attractive pills that were sold there, and that was kinda needed according to the organizer of this program. Anyways I stayed on for 4 months, spending money like crazy and I did follow the diet to a tee, to only loose a lousy 14 pounds. All this money, I have all of the receipt and in total I spent a total of 4300$ in 4 months to loose 14 pounds. The point of my story is, this plan must work, it did on a fellow friend of Richard, he lost over 100 pounds a bet that one of his friend had made with the guy, if he lost the 100 pounds he would pay 1000$ towards his membership, so he lost and had to reimburse Richard's friend. Then there's this photo of a man in our region who followed the diet and he lost a tremendous amount of weight. Now why didn't I ? I figure the pills I was on, and the lady did tell me that this may affect this program. Just the other day, my own husband told me if you would quit the pills you take daily, you would probably loose weight. I know that I said, but how can I quit the meds that are prescribed by my doctor, first the anti's, whenever I quit them I get sad, and cry to the drop of the hat, then my pain meds 3/daily, I would n't be able to get out of bed if it wasn't for those, and I'm sure they are the ones responsible for this gain weight. Then these are the biggies, the steroids (inhalers & pills) I take daily due to my lung condition. I'm damn if I do  and I'm damn if I don't.While on treatment, I was tested a few times for thyroid problems and it was normal each times. Now I've been discussing this with a member here at DS, it did a tremendous difference on this person's weight and I wonder if my doc would prescribe this thyroid medication. Wouldn't it be great if I could get my weight back to before I did tx.I've been trying to loose weight on my own, and saw this show a few months back on cable, and this lady was always 30 pounds overweight since forever, and one day she decided to change the hours of her meals, and after one year she had lost these overweight pounds, and this is the way she did it. In the morning, she would eat her supper (big meal), at lunch she would drink a shake, and at night she wouuld eat a bowl of cereal. I've been on this vice versa diet and it works, slowly but surely, so with the thyroid pills who knows I might get my normal weight back. As you can read,  it's mentally killing me, being overweight.  Any input would be appreciated. Now to those on tx, may this day be side free, for those with Chronic Pain, may this day be pain free, and to the rest of you have a great day.

Hi Mckenzie,
Hate to be a party pooper - but fat is a question of calories in - energy burned up! Not enough activity = fat retained. If you are on steroids you will retain some fluids: again if there\'s some liver damage, that may well retain fluid. I doubt anyone would prescribe thyroxine (it\'s presciption only). I think you got caught with that scheme - I don\'t know much about herbal supps., but the only really effective way to loose extra fat is to take some sort of speed! (I did this once - it was legal then) Yes, it works, but there\'s partial kickback: half comes back on again!. You could have a few teeth out & get bad side effects from antibiotics -just done that one: it works, but the pain isn\'t worth it: lost 5lbs! & it hasn\'t gone on. I\'ve got a friend who was grossly overweight: her Dr. put her on a diet - all cereals out; limited milk, no root veg. for the first 6 mths: limited fruit (bananas out) as much lean fish & meat as you like: she lost 2 lbs. per week for 6 months: I saw her fade away: motivation was stress on her bones. She said she was never hungry! Al purpose vitamin tablet each day. Please don\'t stuff around with thyroxine Mckenzie: I have to take it, it is very potent stuff (I only have one half of thyroid gland). Excess leads to thinning of the bones - after menopause they keep lowering the dosage & do tests on the Bones (that\'s free for all women - a Fed.Scheme-done in private clinic) Remember the golden rule dear woman - nothing in excess! - don\'t fuss over your weight when it\'s induced by fluid retention: just get the retention down!. A litre of fluid is about 2.2lbs! I fell so sorry that you can\'t get to see a doctor for so long! Warm regards, JaneD.

Guess what girls, I made an appointment and it\'s for September 19, 11:45am, yes, I\'m happy it\'s soo soon. I guess due to the fact that he is now coming in Ontario for 2 days a week, he must have dropped off some patients, I don\'t know. Good. Thanks for you very interesting input.

I seem to be always hungry since I stopped smoking recently but my doctor insists I walk a half hour a day and I haven\'t been doing that either. I really need to lose weight and would like to be lighter before I start treatment ( I hear it works better if one is thinner) But for a chain smoker to stop smoking is quite a feat and as you say one thing at a time.
