All is quiet here tonight. It's 10:10pm eastern time here and I've been on the computer all day and night.I've been visiting an old support group (message board) that I used to be a member of, and when I went to log in I forgot my password so registered but was recongnised so I wasn't called a newbie, like when you first get into a website. I was cool to see and talk with old members of when I was on treatment with them.Unbelievable how many have relapsed, I was soo sad. Then to hear that some had did treatment twice and three times, unbelievable. I would say no thank you, remember this is my opinion only. Who knows if I were in their shoes maybe I would do treatment again it has been a long time now for me.Also posted a few post at my own website, boy it's quiet down there. See it's a private message board, and it's hard to get there, so many loops to jump that most people just get frustrated and give up. It took me 3 days of arguying with the administration of the global site before they finally directed me to the right forum.Anyhoo, I have this tremendous pain in my back and will definately sleep good tonight having been sitting here working my brain overtime like today. Boy I'm tired, my brain is dead tired.Good night to all of you my darling friendsOne day at the time

I have been on all day today too. I just figured out, I do this when I am stressed to the max. Although today I felt like I was getting wet brain from it... I need to get more exercise. I didn\'t quite understand when you say relapse with the hep C ? Anyway it\'s always good to read your journal and know even though you in some back pain you are alive and well.. Adrian is better tonight . I will explain more later. Love d
glad you had a fun day chatting with friends and all
sleep tight

Hello gals, Diane, in our days we have combo treatments for hepatitis c, which before hep c was uncurable.
These meds are a form of chemo, by injections and pills.
Very harsh treatment to go thru.
Depending on the genotype, you may have to go on for 24 or 48 weeks of terrible side effects in order to kill the virus.
The percentage of one clearing the virus used to be very low, but still gave a break to the liver.
Some people respond to the meds, and some are non-respondant, which means if the didn\'t clear at week 12, theres a very good chance they are either slow responders or non-responders to the meds.
So like myself for example: I did the 48 journey of Hell, and cleared the dragon (virus), and to this day, years later I am still cleared of the virus.
According to the company who fabricated the specific combo meds I was on, wrote an article earlier this year, stating the after 7 years of being SVR (cleared of the virus) we could actually consider ourselves CURED.
So I am over 3 years now and my hubby over 5 years.
Now as for relapsing, this is when the virus comes back, pretty much like when a person is in remission from cancer and it comes back.
So I was sad to learn that some of my lady friends and men had relapsed and had the strenght and courage to thru it all over again.
How a person gets hep c, is either by blood transfusion (infected blood) but has been screen now since 1992.
Or a person who does IV drugs, could be by using the straw of someone with hep c that has blood on it, toothbrush, nail clipper, razors.
Hep c virus is treansmitted by blood to blood.
My husband had used IV drugs once during his salad days, but to this day I do not know how I have contracted it.
I have a few ideas, like being in 2 car accidents with a person infected with the disease, and we were both bleeding.
Or any of the above ways, tooth brush, ect.....
My advice to those who live a drug and alcohol lifestyle, should be tested by their doctors.
The special blood test is called PCR.
Look at me I was soo surprise that my husband was possitive and our doctor wanted to test both our daughter and myself.
My daughter was negative but my results were possitive.
I went thru all the emotions, then decided to learn everything about this virus, and we both did treatment, got rid of the virus, and have been working on website just like this one for years now, helping people who are newly diagnosed with hep c, and have no clue where to go from being diagnosed.
Hello gerri, always nice to hear from you, hope your doing well today.
Still early, might go lay down and watch a show before my day starts.
The weather here this morning, rain, so it\'s gonna be a nice relaxing day.
Later.....
My husbands early years after Vietnam were a mysery to me.. When about 16 months ago he was found possitive for the virus. We have shared everything razors EVERYTHING. He had a few treatments at vets interfuron(sp) and that was it. They say that\'s all they can do.. Never offered any other treatment we didn\'t even know it was available.. Now I should be tested I guess but why i really would not be able to endure the treatment with all that\'s going on here. His PTSD has I think rubbed off on me and I am really at my wits end. he has all the medical care from vets he has a pych doctor I have nothing. After he was ruled 100% disabled he had to quit his job. There went mt benefits. I have to pay cash for every visit I make . I am angry at him and hepc and ptsd. I feel at times I have been robbed of life. If a person could live one day here with him they would go crazy. I am mad at the goverment that allows vets to go untreated. He has never had a return visit after the treatment and not even blood work is that strange or is that how it goes? I am confused as he does not talk about anything. And to get an answer is like pulling teeth Love D
I am glad that you don\'t have to go through treatment again. That does not sound like any fun! Hugs Jane
Thanks Jane, it was hell litterally hell for myself, and ended up with long lasting side effects.
Diane, the reason they won\'t treat your husband is due to the PTSD.
These meds makes you suicidle.
During these treatment you are supose to loose weight, my hubby lost 35 pounds, looked like a walking zoombie, greyish colour, ect...
Myself, I gainned, you know MURPHY\"S LAW, yes I gain and gain, and at week 12 being very, very depress, I wanted to cut my stomach with a knife. LIke I said suicidle thoughts, so no way he could do this, and the doctors know that.
Yes you should get tested, and especially Adrian, depending on your lifestyle, a person is more subject of getting it.
If your doctor object, tell him you want to be tested and that\'s it.
These days doctor\'s think of the budget they need to work with, and sometime brushes off patient. so be persistant and get tested. Any other children you both conceived?
Good luck dear. One more important thing to know, when a person contracts hep c, the person cannot drink one drop of alcohol, it would eventually cause fibrosis and even worst cirrohsis, which ends up to liver cancer if not treated.
I am here for you sweetie if you need any other answers to your questions.

Hello there, I don\'t think that any Health System that\'s free (ie: Nat. Medicare here in Oz., Vets.Dept, etc. etc.) are falling over backwards to inform people about HepC. Here I\'ve never heard of anyone who\'s had treattment, and I know other HepC people inCanberra other than elder d. I\'ve just finished a book on AIDS in africa - with a few notable exceptions, ther has been veery little done: South African Govt. is recommending Garlic, Betroot & lemon juice as treatment: Mandela has spoken out, as his son died of AIDS. The parallels withHepC here are frightening. From talking to friends who were conscripted to Vietman, seems a lot got hooked on heroin - prob. shared needles - the attrition rate is largely due to suicide. I\'m beginning to wonder....not very pleasant: in fact I\'ll finish up being called a conspiracy theorist. Sleep well woman with French Accent (Which I was beg. to acquire.. amazingly! We lived in f-speaking area. Bonsoir, JaneD.
