but first...
Got up and went on the computer right away, last night Jade took over, besides I had to do errands so when I logged in I had a few hours of of working on sending info, ect... to needie members just diagnosed.

I remember so well the day my hubby was diagnosed.

My face dropped right on the floor, :(
I was so angry at him....

you know when you don't know about a medical problem, but I jumped to the wrong conclusion not knowing this virus was not a STD.

It didn't make sence, since my hubby was the type of man that if I didn't catch him, he would still be a bachelor.

Most of his uncles on his mother's side are bachelors.

So deep down I knew it coulnd't be a sexual disease.

But what was this hep c and how do you get it?
A million questions went thru my mind.

Then the doctor explainned it, and my hubby had told me that the first summer we had met, a nice summer day in July 86, he had experience with IV drugs just that one day, 3 times, using the same tools as his buddy, who was an addict.

But still I was angry....
how could he have been so irresponsable, then again he was 20 at the time.

stupid, stupid, stupid.....
Then the doctor says, I need to get both you and your daughter tested !!!!

eh, no, no way I can have this, there is just no way.....
So our doctor says to be on the safe side we need to do this, Mck...
Ok, then the results, we go in....

I can still see my doctor's expression on his face, I wasn't worried at all.... then he says your daughter tested negative, a great big smile came across my face... but then he looked up and says you tested possitive...
OMG.....

I almost died right there and then... :(
So after the initial shock, anger, denial, sadness, I took the matter into my own hands.
This is serious, I started reading and learning everything and anything that had to do with this silent killer called hep c.

Thinking my hubby had the virus longer so he must have more damage than I, he went thru the testings, biopsy, ect... and eventually did the 48 weeks treatment.

Of course we both had the worst genotype of all type 1a, the hardest to get rid of.

Since the combo nuclear treatments were not FDA approved yet, my hubby was put on a 50 patient list and went on a trial base tx.

After his long hard journey, he was cleared of the virus, A MIRACLE REALLY.

By now we are a few years later, then I start going thru the motions.

Since I was rather into alcohol than drugs, my biopsy reveils fibrosis of the liver, stage 1-2 grade 1-2, inflamation, and very much active.
My hubby not being a heavy drinker had no damage grade 0 and stage 0, go figure.

So, by this time the combo chemo treatment are approved by the FDA, I apply for a long term insurance plan, since the 48 weeks journey is 24,000.00cdn and my employer at the time has no insurance plan for us in the office.

Schedual to start in december, had a pneumonia, so reschedual for friday the 13th of february.

Did my journey, it was the hardest thing I ever had to go thru. I promised myself that if one day I would need to go back on chemo for whatever cancer, I would never, ever go thru this again.

Finally finished my journey, with flying colours I might add, and we have both been cleared since.

My hubby has passed his 5 years mark, and I will go back in 2008 to get my 5 years reading.

Most doctors didn't know anything about these new treatments, since hep c was once incurable.

Today I am an advocate for hep c patients, on different hep c communities on the web.
Both my hubby and I are considered the Miracle Couple, we give hope to those who need to go on treatment.

Giving my time to people, who have been diagnosed and dont know where to turn.
So I help them get knowledge on how to get ridof the dragon, called hep c.
