Tues night time seems to go slow anymore I always used to say I thought time goes so fast it seemed as I got older, you waited all yr to go on that vacation and now time seems to stand still .I guess I really dont want to be anywhere in time w/out Ashley. The world goes on ,all her friends go on ,they will graduate and get married and I will be stuck in this place I now call my life w/out Ashley.A place where I dont want to be but I will go on I have to be there for her sisters but again in time they will be gone on their own and I will still be stuck in this place w/out Ashley . I hate it I hate seeing that cemetary and knowing my daughter is in a coffin 10 ft under its horrible ,I never thought something like this would strike me and my family , but who would? You want so much to protect your kids and somehow I wasnt able to do that,I wish I never went for her permit we went on the exact day she was able, she was so excited and she drove for a yr and 1/2 ,never did I imagine this..I have told Kaitlyn I will not be the one to take her for her permit or her license she will have to wait.If I trusted Ashley with my life and thought she was such a responsible driver and person and I couldnt stop her from being killed I will not be responsible for my other girls driving...I always thought I was doing the right thing letting Ashley drive and I even took her out in the snow I figured she will be leaving for college in awhile she will need to drive right? Boy I wish I didnt think that way now...

You did what was right! Ashley got her liscense because she deserved to. You couldn\'t have prevented the accident any more than I could have prevented Kala\'s. I\'ve said, I wish I hadn\'t let Kala get that new car. But she deserved it. You did right by teaching her to drive in the snow. You did right by allowing your daughter to grow up. You did right by letting her have her freedoms. You are a great mom. I have a son also, and he deserves to grow up, drive, get married, have his life. I can\'t limit him because of what happened to Kala. I can talk about the circumstances of the accident and hope and pray that it never happens to Torrey. But the reality is kids do not get the proper training before they are given a liscense. And most drivers are so damned impatient that they could care less that a teen driver is on the road beside them. I say we voice our objections loud and clear and demand a national driving school that teaches our young people to handle cars in all kinds of situations. Make it mandatory. People complain about the cost of things, but I say there is NO cost greater than the life of my child!!!
Well, that\'s my soapbox for tonight.
I love you! Keep in touch. I need you in my life!!!

Letting Ashley get her license was a priviledge we all get. She never expected this to happen. None of us do. I let Jake have a dirtbike. I could curse myself everyday for it, but I don\'t. He loved riding and was the most cautious out of all the boys. Jake had an accident due to a human error not anything to do with his bike. I agree with Teri there should be better training for kids. Instead they just keep uping the age, or changing who they can and cannot ride with. they need training. What difference does it make if a kid starts drving at 16 or 18. if they dont have the training. We can\'t stop our kids from living. Just like us, they have to move forward. Lots of hugs, Kathy
