34 Book Awards Authors Should Pursue for 2013
By Scott Lorenz Westwind Communications“Do book awards matter?” YES!!As a book publicist I'm right here to inform you that yes, theyabsolutely do matter! The truth is, 1 of my clientele won the prestigious Los Angeles Book Festival award. That then led to a flurry of media interest, which subsequently led to a major New York agent deciding to represent the book and pitch it to all the main publishing homes. Deals are in the offing. This author, needless to say, is satisfied he decided to enter.
Pursuing and winning book awards will provide you with a further opportunity to attain out to the media, booksellers and agents. As a book publicist I see the media perk up when an author client has received an award. It is the added credibility that offers them the assurance that the book is worthwhile. It takes the danger out of the equation for the producer or reporter if it’s an ‘award winning’ book.Awards also make interest within your book, which can lead to additional sales and other opportunities.A book award may well cause a person to stop in their tracks and consider picking up your book inside a book store. A book award can give you an edge and from time to time that is all the difference you might want to propel your book into bestseller territory. Should you win you are able to say you happen to be an “award winning author.” Does not that sound better? Of course it does, and you get a little magic that comes from a third party endorsement due to the fact an authority says your operate is worthy, and that’s priceless.
