Whoa, what a week... and I still don't feel relief. So, Mom had her surgery on Monday, on Tuesday, the hospital told me that she would be going home the next day. WHAT?? I am not prepared for that!! So, I moved my work appointments up so I could have the afternoon to get her and I get to the hospital at 2:00. She is having a bad response to the morphine and is completely confused. It was so scary. I think more because of the experience we had with my dad when he was in the hospital before he died. I kept reminding myself that she did not have major ORGAN surgery, that it shbwas not a life threatning operation, but the flashbacks are still there. Well, obviously, she did not get out on Wednesday and I stayed until they kicked me out at 8 so I could see her become more herself as the morphine left her body. So, Thursday, she calls to ask me to pick up the walker that is at the house and a toiletry bag she forgot and come get her because they are letting her go. She sounds so much better! I am so glad!! So, I go get her things, run two appointments for work, and then off to the hospital. She was a lot better and walked a few times. The physical therapists taught me how to put her brace on and that is when my mom said that she would not be comfortable having my brother do the brace and I would need to come by every morning and night to take care of it. COME ON!! I know this sounds so selfish of me to be upset about it but I was really stressed about it. They did not let her out on Thursday and the PTs asked me to come in at 10 this morning to put the brace on by myself so that they would know that I can. So, I cancelled my conference call for this morning so that I could sleep in. I have been having my insomnia bouts and after 6AM is when I finally get back to sleep. I slept till 8 today. I spoke to a friend of mine about what was going on and she gave me the number of her friend who is a director for a home health care company. I called and left a message and wondered how I was going to talk my mother into agreeing with this idea. Went to hospital at 10, did the brace thing and the PT said she was on the list to go home. She also said she is recommending home health care for 3 days a week (better than nothing!) and my mom said if all else fails, she would hire a nurse (now THERE's an idea!!) so I am feeling better. I left and went to the drugstore to prepare the house for things she needs and went back at 3:30 to wait for the Dr to come release her. At 6:45, the hospital doc comes by and says, "I am going to recommend you stay till tomorrow". I was all prepared! Anyway, I feel like it has been the week of the rigamarow for her and for me. My brother comes in tomorrow and I am going to try to stay strong and tell her to suck it up to have him put her in the brace, it isn't like she will be in a hospital gown at home!! OK, this always makes me feel a little better. I feel like I have missed a lot on DS. I have been checking everyday but only for a few minutes. Hope everyone is well! The exciting baby things that happened this week: I met my OB. He is lovely. I HEARD THE HEARTBEAT!! HOLY WOW! How awesome!! I almost cried. I scheduled my NT for next Tuesday and my tummy is popping. More news to come. Thanks for being here, ladies!
