It's been a long week for me. Last Thursday, after Sara got home from school we went down to our local police department per the DA's victim assistantce program, to file charges for assult on Sara. We got the run around again. The on duty cop said that if the assult happened at school it has to be handled at school. We showed her pictures of Sara's face and then she called the cop assigned to Sara's school. The school cop told her that when Sara returned to school on Tuesday, after the holiday break she can come and see him to fill out a report. "Let her know that it doesn't mean that anything will happen or anyone will be arrested." I am so done with this hold that the school has. I know that they are waiting till Sara graduates in June. Thats fine. I have a letter already written to go to the Office of Education as well as her high school. We have one year to file a claim. We are going to file a claim in small claims court as well. My husband knew how stressed I was getting from this so yesterday, Sunday, we went on a date. He took me out to breakfast, then we went to the lake. I didn't do any fishing I just rested and took in the sceanery. He caught three trout and released them back into the lake. The boat ride was just what I needed. I hurt today but it was worth it.

The legal system sucks. No other way to say it & I\'m being nice. My son-in-law was attached last MAY broad day light. A randon act of violence,a witness who happened to be a court reporter took a picture of this scumbad with her cell phone. Chris had to have 2 surgery\'s lost wages, the entire family in therapy. They went thru the Victoms Assistance program was told they would get help with medical bills, lost wages & therapy. They had to fill out a book of papers. When it all came down they were denied-18 yrs ago when Chris was a kid it got in trouble,he was the look out guy for someone else stealling a jacket out of someones car. He has a clean record ever sence not evan a speeding ticket. You won\'t find a more honest, christian family man. They refussed this family help. The whole thing so far has cost them over 6000.00. I don\'t know any family with 3 kids who can afford to loose that kind of $. I just could not believe the whole thing. What does something he did as a kid 18 yrs ago have to do with some jerk he does not know came up from behind him, gave him a bad concushion & tried to kick him to death. Chris has no memory of the incident. When he came to he thought he had been hit by a car. His wife my daughter Michelle & her 2 & 4 yr old saw their father laying in the street in a puddle of blood. The 4 yr old screamed out my daddy, my daddy is dead.Michelle & the oldest son Nathan 9 yrs old are going thru post dramatic stress syndum. They feel if they had been right there it would not happen.
This & what Sara went thru it\'s hard not to feel Life is not fair. Why does God allow these things happen? I have talked to my Pastor & my shrink about this many times. I know in my head we are not to question & God won\'t put more on us than we can handle. Over the weekend Michlle was taking Nathan to a special skateboard contest going down the highway & her tranmission went in her van. She has a day care, has an average of 7 kids to transfere to & from schools. You can not get 7 kids in a reg. car. It\'s going to cost her 1800.00 to get this fixed. I\'m sorry to go on.
I am so happy your husband is supportive & took you out Sunday. Sounds like a keeper.
Truith be known we are at the justice systems mercy. We must keep our faith.
I go to get my butt moving, change sheets on bed, shower & make a couple of phone calls in 1 hr. On Tues. mornings I volunteer at the church, we make lap blankets for people in nursing homes. Then I have a ton of shopping 4-5 diff. stores. It will be a tireing day.
I pray you have a good day. Love you & here for you. Take care of you so you can help Sarah.

Yea, ok, you are getting the run around. My daughter was not assaulted at school. She was assaulted at a classmates house. There was a party which was unsupervised. The parents were away. After her assault, my daughter drove straight to the police station. They took her report right then. They took her to the hospital. I was called from there. The police went straight to the kid\'s house. They took care of everything. He was arrested questioned, taken to court and now has a permanent record. I think the fact that this happened at school is where the problem lies. You sort of have to leave it to them.
You don\'t have to let nothing happen here. File a suit against this kid. The town police can\'t tell you to leave it to the rent a cop in the school if you are pressing charges! Something isn\'t right here.
I will continue to pray for Sara. I\'m sure she, as well as you have been greatly traumatized going through this and justice must be served! This kid can\'t get away with this!
Please keep me updated Darleen, and as Diana said, we must keep our faith. God will see to it that justice is done.
Love you, so sorry you have to go through this right now. xoxoxo
