I am so angry. It's been a bad week. Feb. 6, 2008 I get a call from the nurse at my daughters school. She said that"Sara is in my office and she was hit in the face with a guitar." I said Why? It's being investigated as we speak. I went and picked her up. She was escorted out to my car by two people. She had a red and blue mark on her cheek. Sara said she had a headache. No doubt. I asked what is going to happen now to the boy who hit her. I was told due to privacy issues we can't say. I asked Sara if the school took pictures of her face and she said no. So I did and have every day since she was assaulted. The next day I had to take her to the doctor. She was complaining of pressure in the back of her head. Her doctor said she had a concussion, gave her pain meds and ordered her to stay off work and school for 5 days. He also ordered a CT brain scan. Needless to say the school has not called us or emailed us or given us the time of day. My husband went down to the school with pictures, doctors orders in his hand and waited to talk to someone. He talked to one of the vice principals. She was surprised as to what Sara's face looked like. She agreed that this was an act of force. We still don't know why this happened and the school won't tell us anything. In my opinion this boy needs to be arrested for assaulting Sara. His family needs to be held accountable for Sara's medical bills. This boy could have killed my daughter and as it appears the school doesn't care. Any suggestions? I feel better for venting.

I think I would have done the same thing, but you can, and I would file charges yourself, and you should notify the school that it your intent if they do not follow through with what should be done. Abuse is abuse, and they have protocol that must be followed. Many of our schools here actually have a policeman posted in our schools for any such event. Become more involved, and they will help you. Also- child services in your state can help also. Good luck- I will keep you in my prayers. MsBrit

This is downright ridiculous. Your daughter was assaulted! I\'m sure she knows who did it and how it happened. You were VERY smart to take pictures. Keep every medical bill.
I would let the school know that I had every intention of following through with this. You have the right to know the circumstances under which this assault occured. You can go to the police with the pictures and say that the school is not cooperating and you want justice for your daughter and payment for the medical bills. I\'m sure the school doesn\'t want this in the local news papers.
My daughter was assaulted in school. We sued the family. The boy was arrested and all my daughters bills were paid. We didn\'t bother with the school. We went straight to the police.
If the school is really stonewalling you, it admits guilt and there are things they don\'t want to be held responsible for. They are probably hoping you will go away. DONT! Let them know you will be persuing this and will get a lawyer if necessary. They\'ll cooperate.
I\'m so sorry and I hope Sara is ok. This concussion stuff can be nasty. She is also loosing money from the job. That needs to be addressed! This kid that hurt her owes you!

Take pictures & everything you have -go to the school board of education. The superentendent. I\'m sure yiu have a local t.v. station that has citizens alert segment just for casses like this. The public needs to know what goes on in their public school systems. The t.v. station will investigate. The school is responsible for our children while they are entrusted into there care. I would think you could have 1 hell of a law suite if you want to go there. Can not believe the school has handled this so casual. I think the tax payers have a right to know. Do you think these kind of casses wire me up. I\'m sorry but don\'t like the way the school has handled this. How\'s your daughter doing? Keep us posted. You have every right to have steam.
love ya Diana
