Wow.  I showed up for the class for significant others / visitors for those in the VA addiction treatment program.  It was kind of neat because I got there and some others were there for the same reason, and I really liked the counselor.  He'd been through the program himself 20 years ago and is a recovering addict, and the program uses 12 steps and counseling and sounds really good.  They are in groups all day for the first 28 days or so.  They were there basically telling us how we need to take care of ourselves and go to Al Anon, and if the person in treatment asks us for something, that they have all their needs met in treatment and tell them to "take it to the group", that they are encouraged to discuss stuff in groups. We had a lunch break and aren't supposed to be in contact with the person in treatment, but the "smoking area" is for both people so I got to sit with him there.  I need to have the cigarette conversation with him - I don't like the smoke, can't tolerate it. So then the 2nd group was for both significant others and those in treatment, and it was interesting.  I had to leave a bit early for work - I hate drawing attention to myself for something odd like that, but I finally interrupted to get a chance to share.  We got a chance to talk in a group, and it was interesting.  I realize I have baggage I need to deal with for having an "ongoing" problem of being in relationships with addicts.  It felt really good to find a "support group" today, surprizing, and I said I'd be back next week (in addition to my visit Saturday).  I also brought up some stuff to him, that felt good to do in a group.  Wow, such growth for me to be in a therapeutic setting for this issue when I have dealt with similar situations on my own with no guidance/help/mutual support for so many years of my life.  I stopped at the natural food market and picked up some different homeopathy stuff for this lingering sort of cold.  So I was 10 minutes late to work, but called first.  No biggie.  I was supposed to talk with my supervisor a few weeks ago about becoming a permanent full time employee - I haven't yet.  Resist commitment and I guess I avoid her in general and I have also been busy and then sick.  It feels good to come to work though it is a little slow at the moment.
