Spent an hour attempting to log on - Dad's computer and he's out of town so I have access, and finally logged in under Mom's "section." REALLY greatful to be back in counseling. Maybe some floodgates opened. I had some sugar (those frappuccino type things - a past addiction I'd not used lately - too much sugar and caffeine). I was emotional due to PMS. Just having a tough time coping with the new work position - received ALOT of help today from boss and manager (YAY). So in class, I was teaching, and a couple people are in danger of failing, and the girl doesn't take responsibility and is starting to take it out on me, and referred to their other instructor (they're all in the same two classes) as "atleast he's not a party pooper". So I mentioned it was disrespectful and I have given the class as a whole full credit for one assignment that some of them didn't quite earn - including her - and I could change it and her score would go down 3% and she'd fail (I guess you could say I was a little touchy and defensive) and I almost started crying, and the class sort of withdrew. I have had issues with her trying to make it my responsibility to pass her. It is a private Jr college with emphasis on kids that were not college bound and are in specific programs for job placement (they're correctional justice kids). They're super sweet kids and my close male friend says, to not let my small annoyances or battles distract me from my successes. Damnit I may pass a whole math class who has overall excellent attendance, and they've learned math - it is truly a success (I am doing better than average in these areas :). So there. If she or the other guy fails the class tomorrow, I can only report honestly what I have given them (I have been scrupulous in scoring aside from the one extra project/assignment, which some people didn't have access to due to schools computer problems - so I made it a freebee, than dangled it in front of their face - not good) So. The ex texts "he doesn't love my anymore" and it's just a cherry on top, and I came home and bawled and vented with mom. We're both reading... YOU CAN"T MAKE ME ANGRY by Dr Paul O. EXCELLENT (I'm on my 4th read and will reread it - it's on emoitional independence, and largely applies to AA/Al anons (ME) ). She reminds me I could have asked the student to leave the room for disrespecting me (!). I remind her of what the book says about responding to someone who wants to argue... "YOU MAY BE RIGHT" - it would have been a better answer. Instead I felt like a kid who was being picked on. SIGH. It means a lot to come on here and help end my day better. Thanks for being here.

don\'t be too disheartened by your student, i was a terrible student to my teachers, i was just taking out all my lifes worries on them,
Sometimes we face exactly the experiences we need in order to be more aware of ourselves and grow. I\'m not saying that we need to like these kind of experiences, only that we will learn a lot from them. I\'m sure you will! Don\'t take it hard on yourself, remember we tend to put on problems more \"weight\" than they deserve. ((HUGS))
