Today was a lot better than yesterday as far as feeling calm and serene. I showed up to Al Anon and it being a semi-holiday (New Year's Eve!) I happened to have a key to the meeting room, so we were able to have a meeting thanks to someone having access to the supplies locker, and it was small and intimate and I got to share about what was going on that I wrote about yesterday. Having supportive people in my life makes this go a lot smoother than it would otherwise.Well update on the boyfriend, he said (told his close friend who told me) I "absolutely did the right thing" (in calling for help). What a relief. I hear he is a little overwhelmed about where he is (being held in a psychiatric ward for suicide watch) but he is where he needs to be and has been given some medication hopefully he will keep taking. Anyway this friend probably doesn't realize I want the space I need from this boyfriend yet I guess I am still a little foggy on the matter, I did appreciate him updating me and I am grateful I have done something that seemed necessary, even if his family is blaming and rejecting me for it. I guess his family asking that I not come around, which I have a hard time believing or understanding, because of this incidence almost like my intent was to cause trouble when I only wanted to help, well this could be a blessing in disguise since I have been so torn over the stress in this relationship. I started to realize today maybe the stress is what influenced my hair to seem much thinner, mostly why I cut it short 2 months ago!I went to my normal noon home AA meeting today I haven't been in 2 months. At dinner with mom last night one of my very favorite people in the meeting is a 93 year old man with 58 years of sobriety, a friend, and I was so happy to see him and introduce him to mom, and promised I'd be there today so we both kept our word. It was good to go back and to see new faces (many) and to see people who'd missed me and showed concern that I "disappeared" to a place where I was regulary attending for years... Anyway it was a milestone for me.I visited with a very close supportive friend who actually told me of this place and had a nice afternoon. I feel so blessed to have house to myself tonight and made tentative plans to meet a friend at a meeting and maybe return to my other friend's later, anyway it is nice to have options. I guess I need to decide if I choose to go out of guilt when I tend to want to stay in early on winter nights and I certainly am a bit I guess you could say needing some rest.I hope to remember this year as one of progress even if it is looking at the issues that I seem to draw to myself that need addressing. This is not the first time I have gotten hung up and involved in a person who is not treating their mental illness. Mom says I may as well be paid if I want to help these guys! Oh well. I got myself in an unpleasant spot maybe it was for a good reason I hope.

I think you deserve a rest after all you\'ve been through. You must prioritise your own needs as much as anyone elses. Its sounds like your bf family is in denial. Ever wonder why we feel the need to be with people that need this level of maintenance? What drives us?
It\'s funny, mom told me her mom said she had felt like her spouses \"mental health nurse.\" I\'m trying to learn more about codependency and talking to my counselor and practicing being in tune with myself and my needs! For me, I think I invest in so much and then want to ensure it is a worthwhile investment and sometimes I think this requires my help... It\'s not the healthiest situation!
