This has been a really hard reality for me - losing my husband of 28 years. We worked together everyday for the last 20 years. I stumbled across this network support group by accident while looking for grief support. I have read entries from lots of people who are experiencing the same trauma and I feel at last there is someone out there that understands what it is like to lose a soul mate overnight. Literally. He was not sick, he was not old, it was five days before Christmas and six days before my birthday. And all I can do now is cry and remember and pray. Thanks for being here.

People here do understand. My husband and I were together 24/7. He was 49, happy and seemed healthy... went to sleep and did not wake up. And my birthday was one week later.
I remember the unbelievable pain of the first 7 months. I honestly did not think I would survive it at times.
It will be the one year anniversary of his death tomorrow. I can tell you that I am so much better now than in those early months. My life is forever changed and I will always miss him, but I am starting to feel alive again. I don\'t cry every day, my first thought when I open my eyes in the morning is not \"Oh God, he is gone.\" I just want you to know the pain will lessen with time.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Thank you for your words. And your understanding. I t comforts me to know that this unbelievable grief will lessen . The anxiousness has lessened but the reality of him never walking in that door anymore or leaving a message on my phone or any one of those things that we did so casually hasn\'t set in yet. I am not sure if I refuse to accept he\'s gone and maybe just maybe I\'ll wake up and this was all just a dream. There\'s just too much to think about now.
Many on this site have described refusing to believe their spouse is gone and thinking they will wake and the horrible nightmare will be over.
There is so much to think about, it is overwhelming. First thing to think about is taking care of yourself. Try to eat right and drink lots of water. I know that getting outside and walking really helped me.
If you need to talk you can always message me.
Thanks. He was my life. I keep thinking about my life before him . There\'s been a lot of life between that time and now and I don\'t want to forget that period. I am afraid I will forget. Is that normal,.?
And how can anyone know the grief of lossing someone overnight.
I\'m angry and hurt and broken.
