I've really thought on this and I truly think I could be a Therapist,  or maybe a Pdoc. I would love to be a Pdoc because I could actually spend time with my patients and listen to their problems rather that merely checking how the meds work.. I would make it a point to spend at least 30 minutes with each, rather than the 15 most do.. I know a Pdoc that does it that way, and he's one of the best..  87 years old and sharp as a tack..

I know what you mean I have a great pdoc (6 years w/ him) but he sends me to therapist for personal issues. It\'s a hassle.

I think you could be a good therapist man. I think therapist\'s can\'t treat people effectively if they have no way to grasp how you feel. You would be excellent at treating BP\'s. The sense of humour helps also no one needs clinical coldness when their depressed. Besides break down therapist and you have \"the rapist\" (chckle..chuckle).

Waay cool. I think you would be a great therapist from the postings I\'ve read of yours. My Pop is almost 85 and sharp too. (My mother sadly suffers from Alzheimer\'s. Looks like my chances are 50/50.) My pdoc thinks that bipolars make more empathic therapists because they relate to patients. So, why the heck not? You were great with person in an emergency situation who was suicidal. I never heard how that turned out. I hope it went OK. If not, you did the best a person could do. Please know that. I think you are a cool dude. All the best to you and go for it!! We need kind and sensitive people in the psychiatric profession!!

You will make an excellent PDoC you have sympathy and are an excellent listener. That is half the battle, most of them do not listen. Plus you are really handsome, you will have females lining out the door man. You will be making serious money!!! But most of all you will be an excellent PDOC with your personality. Alot of them do not have one...Good luck to you Chugger!!! XOXO - Maria J.

Chugg, once you start your life will never be the same. Your purpose will be laid before you. School will be your saving grace. It was mine and and I tend to run back to it. I have a Masters Degree but enough credits for a PhD. My DH says I have a very expensive hobby I say it is an outlet that serves many purposes! Your are gonna LOVE it! Biggest hugs to ya! You have made an incredible decision and proud of you for that! My best wishes to you!
