32 years and still going
How do I feel? I feel alright ..honestly I feel alright. I'm not in that deep pit of depression of late...right now. I am still worried that its just over there waiting for me. I am sleeping alot..I don't know if its from the stress or the depression. The good news is that I made it through yet another day, another year. Yesterday I didn't have too many thoughts of harming myself and the voices were at bay. Its the 4th of July and its a special day for me. 32 years ago I was sent to the state hospital at the age of 17. Now that isn't a bad thing. Most people think its terrible or a tragedy that happened. But in the reality it saved my life. It was a "defining moment" in my life. The life I had before I got sent away was far worse than being at a state mental institution. The state changed my life for the better. They gave me a second chance at life. I was treated humanely like I was worth saving. I am who I am because of the influence of the hospital. I look back with no regrets. I am glad that I was able to live this long and to have been able to accomplish the things I have. It all started July 4th 1980. This depression I'm in will go away...I know from past experience that it cannot go on forever. I am a fighter and I won't lie down too long to let this feeling, this damn depression consume my all.
