32 days post op
It is so amazing to watch a person recover from something so very serious and life threatening. My sweet husband has now achieved his 32nd day post op. He is really beginning to fight harder to regain his strength and function more like he used to be able to do, before all the complications of his faulty valve. Of courese, he is a normal human being and frequently tries to do way more like staying up for supper & a movie. Then the next day is back in bed for most of the day. But even that seems to be slowing down some. Next week we start another round of doctor appts. On Monday we have to drive that wonderful hour and a half to have his blood thinner levels checked because they have him on a rather high dosage. Then on Friday he goes to see his primary care. The 18th we have to go to see the cardiac surgeon. We know he is getting better and stronger. On a side note: Our neighbor's goat gave birth to twins last week. Our Emu is sitting on a nest of 6 eggs but I'm not certain that all of them will actually hatch. A different neighbor is raising alpaca and is expecting a new little one later this month and another one in Septerber. That goes right along with our own family (the human ones) because on the 10th our 10th grandchild will be born via c-section. In September our 5th great grandchild will be born. So, seems the alpaca are following our family in this cycle. On a sad note, my mother's health is really slipping. Last Saturday she spent several hours in the ER and was returned to the nursing home. They diagnosed her with pnemonia for the 3rd time since Feb. 1st. Then, on Wednesday, they sent her back because of more chest pain and gasping for breath. This time she was admitted to ICU where she stayed until very late this afternoon. Upon admission to ICU she informed them that she has a DNR in place. On Thursday she informed the medical staff that she was done with all this, no more IVs, needles or tests. She has a DNR and want's to be let go home. So, all IVs, etc have been pulled. They moved her to a medical floor today because of her age & physical condition and her desire to use her DNR. It is so sad to watch her struggle to breath. She isn't really eating or drinking, but has taken little bits for me. Finally some of the family is coming to help spell me off with some of the responsibilities of having two down at the same time. Now, time will tell what the next week or two hold for us. 2Sa 22:33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.Ps 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
