I'm being a bad girl and playing hooky from work today. I do have a really bad headache but I called my boss and told her I was throwing up. So you know I'm gonna get punished for lying and I'll probably really get sick tomorrow. Part of me feels guilty about it because I work at salvation army store and wednesday is the busiest day because we have familyday and their is a huge sale. I work the night shift. There is only me and my boss after 4:30 so she has to find someone to close for me until 8:30. I feel bad but hopefully this will make them see we need 1 more person at night. Anyway My head is pounding and my neck hurts. I think its from moving all the mulch and the yard work. Last night My soon to be son in law and I hooked up the pool and now I'm filling it and need to get it started. I love summer but I hate all the work that comes with it. I used to enjoy it when Bruce was around to help. He would mow half the yard and I would do the other or he would mow and I would do the trimming. Yesterday I mowed all the yard and did the trimming. Jenn's boyfriend says he will help but I'm learning he's all talk no action. The more time I spend with him the less I like him. My daughter has been with him fo 6yrs and he wasnt around Bruce and I much because we didnt approve of their relationship. I actually sent her to a pshyciatrist when I found out about him but he told me unless I want to lose my daughter then I should let her date him or she might run away. So I did,but I didnt like it. The same thing happened to me when I was a kid and I ended up marrying him against my parents wishes. I had to learn for myself and so doesnt jenn. He's nice enough and she totally loves him but he complains about how lazy she is. You ask me they are both pretty lazy. They're getting married in my yard and I have done 95% of the yard work. Wow i just realized this journal is all over the place I must have had to get this off my chest. Thanks for letting me vent.

A mental health day...good idea! It is hard to admit, but we cannot depend on our kids to help with these bloody houses and the yards. I just want out of mine!

Yes, you DO need to get it off your chest, and don\'t feel guilty about taking the day off. I think we need to realize that we need to listen to our bodies sometimes, and that if we don\'t take care of OURSELVES, NO ONE ELSE is going to. I truly understand about the yardwork, I did alot, but I also had Jim there to back me up. Now I come in, look around and realize there is so much \"inside\" work to do too. I get myself so overwhelmed sometimes. I am trying to realize that I cannot keep it perfect as Jim did, there is NO WAY humanely possible. I have had everyone tell me that, and I am trying to get it into my stubborn mind. For me, it hurts to see his hard work go to pot... I know you understand what I mean. You are right too about your daughter, we have to accept their decisions even though we may not like them. Hmm, I remember NO ONE wanted me to be with Jim, they said that we were beauty and the beast. Well, we proved EVERYONE wrong, it wasn\'t easy but we made it... Hold onto hope, maturity does alot.... Wishing you a better day, and hoping that you feel better soon. Take care of yourself, you need some rest.... Hugs

hey lori, you take your day and enjoy, i also didn\'t approve of my son-in-law and bekah finally came to her senses after 6 years, turns out she had been hiding abuse and had several police reports of him hitting her, on the other side of the coin, i know some 50 year olds that still haven\'t grown up. maybe the baby will bring maturity, hugs, brenda

Don\'t worry about venting, we all need to do that! Kids don\'t get any easier as they get older do they? All we can do is be there for them and they have to make the decisions for themselves, whether they\'re right or wrong. Hope you\'re feeling better by now.

Lori, It is hard when you see your child making the same mistake that you have made, and you cannot stop them. It is hard knowing they are going to be hurt, but you cannot prevent it. Each of us have to make our own mistakes and have out own hurts to learn . I know we just by instinct try to protect them, but we can\'t. I had the same problem with one of my oldest son\'s girlfriends. She was just the most negative person I have ever known. Just seeing her got on my nerves. I am usually real easy to get along woth. I just did not like her and she was just not someone O could ever like. I was always nice to her because I knew all that would happen if I was rude and said I didn\'t like her, would be my son would not come over as much. If I did not accept her, it would mean giving up time with my son. I did not want that, so I just kept my mouth shut and was nice.If your daughter has been with him 8 yrs. she has to know him pretty good. I would do just the same thing you are doing. Nothing should come between us and our kids. You are maybe doing too much yard work at once. Maybe you should take a littlt more time doing the yard work. I know you want your yard to be beautiful for the wedding, but you need to take care of yourself too. I was always afraid to call in sick when I was not because if I did I would get sick for real every time. I miss working in the yard. I had a beautiful garden before I got where I could not work in the yard. I had some wild flowers,a wild running rose vine and I had some big rocks. I also had christmas lights ao the trees and all over the yard. I can\'t work in the yard, and I can\'t climb around on the ladder and trees any more either. If James caught me climbing, he would have a coranary! I sure miss it and James has no intrest in flowers. My best friend got married in my yard years ago. It was beautiful. The pictures always come out better with an out door wedding too. You stay well. I love you,Peggy
