I posted a picture of my mom a couple of days ago and started to feel guilty. On monday Jan 21 it will be 8 years since I lost my mom and I never talk about her on this site.I'm so wrapped up in the loss of Bruce.I talk about her with everybody that knows her but I dont talk about her here. Its not that I didnt love her and that I dont miss her but when I found DS.I was looking for help to deal with my loss for Bruce. So here we go,I'm gonna tell you all about my wonderful Mom.She was a great Mom always there when you needed her.She had a tough life, her mom died when she was only 12 and she became the women of the house. She had to cater to her father and brother while trying to juggle school. She ended up quitting school and marrying my father at 17.She had 5 kids,I'm second to the youngest. And not to sound rude, but my father was not a very good person. He was inappropriate with his daughters and had affairs on his wife, but because my mom had knw one to turn to she stayed with him until we were all grown.I divorced my first husband in92.Mom took me and the kids in.My kids were 5 and 9 at the time. She loved my kids and even though she would never admit it I think they were her favorite.LOL.She has six other grandchildren.Through out the years I dated here and there. She would push me to go out. Then I met Bruce, she was thrilled.Unfortunately she was diagnosed with cancer in the begining of my relationship with him and didnt get to know him very well. She was told in July 99 she had one month to live. She was 64,retiring in6 months on her 65th Birthday. How unfair. She was finally getting time for herself and this happens. My neice was pregnant with moms first great granchild and mom wanted to be there for the happy ocassion.Drs. told her she could live a couple extra mths.with chemo.so she tried it.And lived long enough to see Lily be born.Something good did come out of it.Lily was named for my Moms mothers name. She died Jan21 2000.very peacefully at her home with all of us there.I miss her very much and know she would be a great comfort for me during this time, but I believe her and Bruce get together once and a while in heaven look down on me and say,Lori what the heck are ya doin now.

What a beautiful memory of your mom. My mom also died at the age of 41. I was 20. I never realized how young my mom was until I turned 41, the it was like whoa this is too young. My counselor has told me that we will tend to remember our other losses even more now. Like you my mom is buried with my husband and I will join them. My mom was divorced when I was 3 mths, never knew my father. When I go to the cemetary it is a rude awakening to see that my mom died at 41, my husband at 53. So unfair. It must have been so nice for your mom to see Lily born. I bet she fought so hard to live to see that. You have some beautiful memories of your mom and no one can ever take those away. Love, Alice
