Bad Day

Today was the first day since starting therapy and treatment for co-dependency (al-anon) that I had what I would consider a "bad" day.  Nothing in particular happened....just old feelings of frustration and anger creeping up for no apparent reason.  I'm still grateful though - I used to have days like this almost every day.  Lately I've been motivated about my therapy and feeling better every day.  I'll take a bad day every now and then as part of my recovery.  Writing what i'm feeling always helps me, just getting it off my chest and then starting a new day.  I'm finding it hard to find the right way to deal with my parents now.  Learning that it's the very upbringing that I had which caused my co-dependency, and knowing that they are still in the same situation, is hard.  In changing my approach and reaction to things, the dynamic of our relationship has got to change as well.  it is not my intention to offend them in any way, but I need to set up healthy boundaries.  Something that I know they will perceive as distance and probably be upset by it on some level.  My therapy is something that I'm doing for me.  And I need to remember that.  I need to forgive and choose my own path.
