Well, it is Wednesday and I start work at 3:pm this afternoon.  Looking foward to going to work, because it is work I love to do.  It really does not feel like work, as I go to the group home.  I have been with these 4 people for 4 yrs.  I have become attached to them in a very special way.  Guess as a caretaker of developmentally challenged individuals, I know truly what it feels like to be different.  Friday I have an interview in the same company doing a different kind of work.  Here the people and staff are all on equal footing.  When I have this interview I will be interviewed by not only staff but the people who go to this place to be guided into finding a job, learning living skills, gardening, and so very much more.  It is a club type atmosphere for mental health individuals to come and learn.  I love to teach.  I am a cheerleader of sorts when it comes to working with this population.  They are so in need of someone to lift them up and cause them to feel as tho they are competent individuals.  I am going for this interview because I want more time with my husband.  I want to be home nights.  I want to get involved in my community in a helping way and having a job during the day will allow me to do that.I know I will miss the people I have worked with for the last 4 years but it is time to move on and be challenged.  I basically give out meds, cook for the residents I work with, and that is about it.  The staff take them places, and do things, but I just am not challenged.  I find when I am not challenged I tend to get bored with my life.  Guess it is that extrovert in me that needs to be moving and shaking things up.One of the residents is PTSD from his childhood and I have a special connection with him.  I hope that he will not think I have abandoned him if I get this new position.  He is very needy and needs a lot of reassurance that he is okay.   I know he feels safe with me to be who he is.  I will explain to him that I will see him from time to time.  It is possible I will not get this job, and if I don't that is okay too.  I will try within my company to find a job that is day hours instead of working 3 nights overnight.  If this  new job is meant to be then I will be okay.  If not I will be okay.

How wonderful that you love your job and that you\'re working in a place where you can make such a difference in people\'s lives. Not many people look forward to going to work. You\'re quite lucky; so are all your clients to have someone as kind as you in their lives. Blessings, Dancer.

Thank you Desertdancer for those kind words. For most of my working life I did clerical. I never liked it. Did a lot of work in the Courthouse when I live. Last job for the county was in the Sherriff\'s office where I was bullied by wannabe cops and x marines. I asked that they fire me because the reason they let me go was absurd. I got unemployment.
I transferred two calls to the warrant department and no one was on the other line. Figured that was just not a good enough reason to let me go. So they fired me which led me into working with developmentally challenged indiv. I had done that years ago on a part time basis and loved it. I always trust that I will be led in the direction I need to go.
Again, thanks for the kind words.
