My ole mans dog (and mine for three years) died Friday. He has been crying ever since. If we go out to do things he gets his mind off of it but when we get back home, its back to the tears.Baby was her name. She was a 10 year old blue healer and Al has had her since she was a tiny puppy and someone had dropped her off on a rual road which lead to Als. He raised her (as his child) ever since. She has been a house dog ever since and Al feeds her people food all the time. She goes everywhere with him. He has always owned cows and she has always had to be there with him..Her hip started bothering her from arthritis so his son and I told him he should get her an operation so that she would have more years left without the pain. We were on him for a few months as it was getting so hard for her to walk. He told me once that he was afraid because he didnt think she would make it through it and he wouldnt ever see her again. He took her up Thursday and they said she would be just fine but he still felt like picking her up and taking her home. He called later and they said she was doing fine but he could not pick her up until Friday. They called him Friday morning to tell him she had died sometime after they had left the office and when they got back in Friday morning.. He was devastated.. As all of us are that had baby in our lives. She was more then just a dog to us.. She protected our house, us and our little poodle. Coco the poodle is just lost without her. She has moped around the house since Baby left. Als son Weston picked the dog up from the vet as Al could not do it and they brought her home. After, we took her out to Westons and buried her on some ground that they both own.. Very sad weekend at our house.. Hope it gets better soon

I don\'t know what to say except I know your loss. I had my Chow/Akita till he had to be put to sleep at 16. He wasn\'t supposed to get to be more than 10. He was getting crippled up and it was hard for him to go outside anymore. I cried for weeks, am getting weepy now. Leo was so smart and he protected me and mine.
I\'m sorry for you loss. Love and hugs to you and yours, Marina.

We had a family dog Flash, she was a Kelpie and she was the most beautiful thing. She was such a good listener. Always there when I was a teen to comfort me. I took a day off work to come back home to be with her when the vet put her to sleep. My boss called me a wimp. But I would have been no use to him crying all day. It was beautiful. She was originally my brothers dog. He made a fire and sat her under her favourite tree. She had a cancerous cyst in her abdomen and couldn\'t wee or poo. Could hardly walk. It was so peaceful. The vet injected her and the light or spark just faded out of those big eyes. Mum and I left for a while so my bro could bury her and say good bye to a loyal friend. He made a carved a head stone for her too. I hope your man feels better soon. I will be thinking of you. Blueys are such beautiful dogs, just like the kelpie. A true mans best friend. It\'s been 9year since we said good bye to Flash, but it\'s like any family member the pain just eases. It only feels like yesterday. Give your family a hug for me.

So sorry. :( Losing a beloved pet is SO hard. A couple of months ago we had to have Raffles put to sleep. He was 16, blind, arthritic, diabetic (2 shots a day), incontinent, and possibly senile, but he still grinned like a fool and seemed happy. Then he woke up one morning and his back end wouldn\'t work, it was like he was paralized, but the vet said he could feel the pain, just couldn\'t move. :( I held him while they gave him the shot. We went to a local pound the next week and my daughter picked out a new puppy, who is currently terrorizing the other two dogs in the house as he runs by at full speed. LOL

I\'m so sorry about Baby. I don\'t have a pet of my own but I know that I\'d be devastated if I lost one.
