shelter has increased by 380% and

However,
typical workers' pay has only increased by 10%
WHAT THE HELL? This country sucks!
30 things you should know how to do by age 30 (there are a zillion of these lists on line, this is a consolidation of the things that are listed the most)
1. No crying at or over work - its bad enough when the under age 25 do this. Grow up - and if you must cry, cry in your car.
2. Go out by yourself: happy hour, clubs, movies, the park, the beach, the mall, the zoo, church, school, etc. You don't need a babysitter anymore - just GO!
3. Pair wine to a meal. White with white. Red with red.
4. Know how to drive a car, ride a bike, swim and swim WELL. Learn and know several different swim strokes. A water safety class is also a good idea.
5. Go to the grocery store by yourself. Clothes shop by yourself. Sight-see by yourself. Travel by yourself. Drive by yourself - you do not need a "buddy" for any of these. Never show up at an interview with a friend or even worse, with your parent nor any other family member.
6. Find a sport you enjoy and do it daily - dance, walking and yoga etc., are also sports.
7. Understand your taxes and do your own taxes. If you make little enough money try a 1040EZ. Or have a known place like H & R Block do them for you for a very small fee.
8. Take pictures with any camera at all and have them centered and come out nice.
9. Build a respectable wardrobe -- some call it a "work uniform", which doesn't mean its an actual uniform -- no more than two or three colors, all of which match and only ONE color socks. So basic you can dress with the lights out and it still looks normal.
10. Sew basic things like a hem or a button; vaccuum, change a light bulb, use a screwdriver, a scissor, a hammer and other basic tools.
11. Dance like an adult. Take ballroom lessons - all ten dances and at least the first five patterns of each dance.
12. Get around without a phone and without GPS - READ A STREET MAP.
13. Parallel park when necessary (the more you do this, the easier it becomes).
14. Throw a large party (over 100 people) or work for a company/volunteer at a church that throws large parties, party plans and manages large parties, events, weddings etc.
15. Balance a checkbook
16. Jump-start a car and always carry jumper cables.
17. Tie a tie
18. Know how to write a resume or have it done professionally, know how to fill out an application and what you will need to do that (like I.D. and your address book), know how to interview for a job and how to dress/look for a job.
19. Make a decent cocktail using a shot glass to measure the alcohol.
20. Go to a restaurant take-out and/or dine in by yourself.
21. Buy a bus ticket, read a bus schedule; buy a train ticket, read a train schedule; buy a plane ticket, read a plane schedule, in other words, you should be able to travel /commute on your own.
22. Cook - learn how to cook at least five things.
23. Visit/live in 30 different states, provinces, foreign countries by the time you are age 30.
24. Control your drinking and never drink before 5:00 p.m.
25. Control your anger or go into your car and yell there - DO NOT yell at other living things.
26. NEVER go on a blind date at all. Choose a date and know how to date. McDonald's is not a date, its fast food.
27. Keep a living space on your own, you shouldn't NEED flat mates anymore. It's actually cheaper to live on your own and much less stress.
28. Build a fire. Go camping. Go fishing. Enjoy nature.
