30 minute cross training: a nice walk - 4 Days Til the Race!

Today's workout: 30 minutes of walking and talking on the phone!
To be completely honest, I am sore. And I'm quite glad for this 30 minute walk around the neighborhood. This light cross-training couldn't have come at a better time.
I don't know if I ran harder than usual on my 3-miler last night, whether my body is asking me what the heck I'm doing running so late, or whether this is delayed retribution from my long run, but my legs feel sore and I'm loving it!
I put on my shoes, took my phone, and walked out the door tonight to walk aimlessly but briskly around the block, deep in conversation with my younger sister. If you have a friend you like to talk to, either take him or her on your workouts with you or give them a call if you can talk while you're working out. It made time really fly for me, and it was a good way to catch up.
I have one more 2 miler and a strengthen session to go before it's rest time before the race! I will take bobinmaine's suggestion to eat a hearty pasta meal the day before the race :)
If anyone is in the Santa Cruz/Felton area, let us know! We're setting up a DailyStrength table there deep in the redwoods and would love to see you!
Also, I decided tonight that I would be wearing a DailyStrength t-shirt while I run. I don't know why I thought I'd wear anything else!
Tomorrow's workout: 2 miles + strength

At this point you don\'t want to do anything really strennuous because you might not have enough time to recuperate. It\'s been along time since I ran a 10k but this little bit I do remember. Again you want to be pushing the carbs to load up on your stores of glycogen. If you should run out, you will \"hit the wall\" and that, as you know from your marathon experience is not much fun!

thats so true bob! LOL!! I had that happen before. Gotta get those carbs in. Make sure you fill up on pasta before the race. Don\'t just eat 1/2 of it, eat the whole thing. Get out there and enjoy yourself - you might meet a lot of different people along the route. Thats what makes it so much fun. Hope there\'s a big crowd.
