3 things that guarantee a happier, mentally healthier life//reading meredith baxter's memoir//85 deg

"... happier, mentally healthier lives.    Just a few surprising things:

Money buys happiness because it relieves stress,
but over a certain amount, money will CAUSE stress —  After you reach the $75K salary mark, additional money will actually cause more harm than good, the real goal is free time and peace.

Emo-diversity.  “The sweet is never as sweet without the sour.“   That’s a quote from the movie Vanilla Sky, the scientific term is emodiversity.    To appreciate good emotions, one has to experience bad emotions as well.  As with everything BALANCE in all things.

Exercise helps boost feelings of well-being - which is caused by brain-protective proteins and mood-elevating endorphins being released.

It doesn't cost anything to exercise, nor does it cost anything to experience life - check out the free newspaper in your area and you will discover all kinds of free things to do as well as organizations that need volunteers and members - all free (including church).   So if you aren't happy and want to blame making less money than $75,000, not quite true.  ANYONE can accomplish the other two on the new $15.00 per hour minimum wage (at 30 hours per week and obamacare).

the office park is on its third cosmetics change in 15 years.  15 years ago it was gross here - they had ordinary tile, not even ceramic tile.  then ten years ago around, they put in ceramic tile and it looked better, but that was the only change.  now they made cafes in there, new chairs, sofas, bar style, like paneras but no fireplace.  church has the same thing.  amazing how different.

i'm reading meredith baxter's memoir "untied" its good but kind of depressing.  she was merdith baxter-birney for a while because david birney was her second husband and a tyrant - it sounds like he had both bipolar and narcisstic personality disorder (which would mean he is also a psychopath according to new studies narcisstic and psychopath go together.  creepy.  also a high number of people with bipolar go into the acting field).   her memoir is interesting because she exposes some of how the tv industry works.  Her writing style is clipped.   she says she wasn't happy growing up.  lots of divorce and her mother never around at all.  strict stepfather who was a well known professional talent agent.  her mother was whitney blake who played mrs b on the show hazel (and hated it - don't think her mother liked hazel either (shirley booth, who she says was controlling).   her mother worked all the time and the stepfather ran the house military style.  the book was on sale at the dollar store.  along with a memoir of one of the astor's - didn't start that one yet.
picked up six popcorns.  saved me a fortune.  then i read in her memoir meredith worked in a movie theatre as a teenager, and they emptied out the pre-popped popcorn from bags ONTO THE CONCRETE floor in the "popcorn room" and the workers stood in the popcorn, as they filled the boxes with popcorn and closed the boxes and then put the boxes of popped corn under a heat lamp out front in the glass case and people bought it.  GROSS.  lol.  does anyone know what they are really eating when they eat out.  omg!
swept up the bay leaves this morning.  did a lot of the animal stuff that i used to do at night but lately i'm tired at night (so different for me - i've always preferred the night).  shopped for supplies.   Still 85 degrees out.

when i could afford 200 dollar blood tests for my elderly cat, i said to the vet that money could buy happiness; the good blood work made me stop worrying.

hard to imagine george lucas, worth about 9 b, Billion dollars, being stressed out.

the sweet with the bitter---chinese cliche.

the warm weather holding on here, with me about the only one in a winter coat today----cause i took back a new spring coat to have the extra money to spend on other stuff; the thirty dollars i spent for a spring coat was put to better use; hopefully next year i\'ll find a cheap spring coat to keep.

They say money is the root of all evil. It sure can tear a family apart. Hazel, I love that show. Something about Hazles voice that would keep my attention.

i think their point is if you make over $75,000 you will have the same degree of happiness as someone making one million per year, just as many freedoms and chances to see the world and all that, BUT the person making one million will have MORE stress and aggravation instead of less

when you have money, everyone wants something from you and a LOT of evil people are super fake-nice to you and people are good actors, its hard to tell who is who. the best way to meet angels of some sort is for people to think you are poor actually, then you get to see who is truly nice and who is an evil, contemptuous tyrant right away - its easier. you don\'t want to know someone for a few years and then discover they are disgusting people and you don\'t want their taint on you at all.
