3 MOOD LIFTERS//heavy rain today//dinner at k's//spray on bandage for the cancer cat
"Pink - In the early '90s, researchers looked at the effect of peppy pink shades on violent, incarcerated prisoners when painted on their cell walls.
The study showed that it could calm aggressive and anxiety-filled prisoners. When surrounded by a warm yet calming shade, the inmates couldn’t be worked up even if they tried to be.
The study authors believe that the hue causes heart muscles to relax and makes you feel more tranquil (temporarily, of course).
Paint one room PINK, as your calm room; paint your nails your favorite bright shade, and a good mood could be right at your fingertips. Literally. SWEAT (from high heat) - gets rid of poisons, exercise sweat - floods your brain with endorphins, the chemicals in the brain responsible for making you feel great. You will experience marked brain changes within the first 20 minutes of your workout - endorphin high, which improves mood.
To-Do List - While being laid-back and following the 'don’t worry, be happy' mindset may seem like the way to go, its not. Having goals and reaching them is the secret to feeling fulfilled. Being more goal-oriented and more conscientious is absolutely a way to happy. Keep busy, get things done!"
had dinner at k's, which was way over do. cornbeef and cabbage, planned and set up for outdoors as he just got a new umbrella at winn dixie for $20 and cleaned the fake rocks of his pond. but our warm spell has turned cold and rainy again. grrrr. i'm also running 30 minutes late everywhere since the time change. not good. he's like and there is a telephone. wow. didn't expect that. the passed year everything is going earlier. except i have discovered after trying to wake earlier and sleep earlier, it makes me depressed. i'm still a night person. so went out after k's and got home at 2 a.m. and woke at 9 and for me, that is the right time. lol.
brought him the turtle pie that i don't like and he loved. brought over the borscht recipe and the russian apple pie recipe, which seems easy enough that i might try it. its always amusing when this happens. if its more than 3 ingredients, i need help AND it puts me in a bad mood to be cooking (easily assuaged with extra drinks, just call me julia child. lol). so its very tongue in cheek on this one and just stares for this one and doesn't SAY a word. lol. really want to try it though.
he says to me i'm not russian. but you are irish? he says, isn't everyone? he just likes the st. pat's holiday. k is TOTALLY german. he even looks german with the piercing blue eyes, blonde hair, straight nose, squared jaw and cheekbones going on.
watched "the best years of our lives" with myrna loy on tmc. 1946. bette davis says its the best movie ever made. demonstrates the crap that war veterans go through adjusting to civilian life after war veterans return home - no jobs, people putting them down for the branch of military they chose to be in, or for fighting in the war or a war at all. wow! lots of mess that no one thinks of. the movie profiles 3 men, one of which has hooks in place of hands. it was good. i have more patience for old film now that i got rid of television at home again. the tv addiction is gone and with that gone, you don't need speedy movies or shows (if anything they seem garish that way). also watched criminal minds. love that show. and missed inspector morse which we both love, but it was a repeat anyway.
i need to buy a spray on bandage for bandit, k's cat that has cancer. its bleeding a lot. surprised the vet didn't offer one. i think sh has one for her horses and they sell one in walgreens as well. the other cat that we are treating with cephalexin for skin disorder is improving daily. very impressed with that and we got it from a catalog, one of the cats over here has the same thing but i can't get near it to treat it.

LOL. I NEVER not worry and be happy. Seems like I\'m not me if I don\'t have something to worry about. Not proud of that. Wish I could be more of the don\'t worry type.
What is Turtle Pie? Maybe I missed a post. :-)
Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick\'s Day!! So they say.
I love old movies! And \"The Best Year\'s of our Lives\" is especially great. They just don\'t make movies like that anymore.
Usually I would be adjusted to the time change by now.......but I just can\'t get with it. I\'m forcing myself to get up earlier and go to bed earlier but I am also a night person. Morning is not my friend. lol.
So sorry about K\'s cat. I can\'t believe the Vet didn\'t offer a spray bandage. You do such a great job. Those little critter\'s are soooo lucky to have you.
xoxoxo
turtle anything, has chocolate, caramel and nuts. turtle cheesecake i LOVE. but the turtle pie, was merely cream in a chocolate crust with caramel and nuts. he liked it.
i\'m not adjusted either. xxoo
