3 in a row-Green Smiley Monday

Hi everyone, so for the 3rd, yes count 'em, weekend in a row, I have experienced a peaceful, gentle weekend. I miss Ed all the time but the gentleness of the past few weekends have been a blessing.
Saturday Ken & I volunteered at church for a few hours, then I did a few errands & cleaned. Peaceful...
Sunday I went with Ken's niece Kelly to a fundraiser for her job at Girls Incorporated. It is a great organization that provides a safe afterschool program for inner city girls ages 6 to 13. Kelly is a site director. The fundraiser is held every year and is called "WOA" or Woman of Achievement". Four women are honored each year including a Girls Inc. participant or graduate. These women have accomplished much in the face of adversity - surviving war, illness, poverty etc. Amazing stories.
While at the brunch/fundraiser I won a raffle - an autumn basket. Yay, me! And during the event, Kelly turned to me and said, "You should be up there-you are a Woman of Achievement". I was very touched, although I don't agree. I am not brave or courageous because my child passed away. I do believe that like me, all of us moms at FMO have survived the worst and continue to love and help. I thanked Kelly for her kind words, but I know but for God's grace and the support  from my sisters here, I would be curled up in a ball in bed.
Together we are strong. Love and peace to all you Women of Achievement.

Linda, What a blessing to have gentle and peaceful weekends! So glad for you. And to be able to help Kelly, wow... I have to admit I agree with her, though. You are a courageous woman. Not just because Ed passed away, but because you get up every day, face it and try to make a difference. You continue to survive and share your love and that is what it\'s all about. I have to admit I agree with you, too. If not for God and all my friends here on DS and at FMO I would be curled in bed too. I remember the dark days all too well. Thank you for being one of my friend. Love and peace, Roselle

What a great inspiring story. I am so glad you are out and enjoying yourself. Yes I agree all the women on here and those not who have lost children are great women, strong women. I would have not made it this far without women like you. Peace, comfort and much joy to you. Hugs and love Lynette

I am so glad you have had 3 peaceful weekends in a row! Even when we are having the best of times we miss our angels.
Girls Incorporated sounds like a wonderful agency. My plan (some day) is to volunteer with the Women\'s Center. It is a great place where women of all ages and their children are welcome and are supported.
I believe you are courageous. You have reached out to so many people, at work, church and FMO - including me. And I thank you.
Big hugs,
Marlene

As I read your journal I thought of the phrase from Philippians: \" ... peace of God, which passeth all understanding...\" You give so much of yourself and have received the blessing you so richly deserve in three peaceful weekends in a row!

Peace, blessings and love to you and Ed ~ Debbie

Linda,
I have always said us moms are as strong as our weakest link. We keep each other afloat no matter what. The great part is when one is down then another steps up to the plate...
I like how you are enjoying your weekends. I think sometimes we don\'t take the time to reflect on the positive and so glad you are able to do that. Hugs, Inga

Ah Linda - three in a row - that sounds just terrific. I am so pleased to see that you are out and about and soaking up some acknowledgement. From Kelly\'s point of view - you do deserve it. Of course, I had a fabulous weekend sprinkled with DElightful, DElicious, DElectable time of honor and shared communion of spirit. BIG Hug and Big Love...Suzzanne

This is a treasure to read today for me dear Linda. Thank you for sharing as I feel such a sense of peace within you.

So happy to find this today as I still know that they are working on the \"recent activity\" feed on the DS site so without that it\'s hard to navigate and I don\'t receive the email alert on journals.

You are an amazing woman filled with so much strength, love and grace. I am not at all surprised by Kelly\'s kind and very truthful words.

Much love my friend,
Joanie

YAY!! I\'m so glad you won that Autumn Basket, Linda! And three gentle weekends in a row...you\'re on a roll, girl! That WOA group sounds wonderful!
It does take courage and bravery to \"move forward\" sweet Linda, and we make that choice individually--no one makes that choice for us. We gain support from others. But first, we make that choice and you have been very courageous and brave in making that choice-- with Eddie being your only son and having been such a loving and devoted Mother to him. He was your \"all.\" Too many get \"stuck\" and either can\'t, or refuse, to make the choice of moving on and forward, fearing their child will somehow be \"left behind\" (which is entirely not the case).
Your faith strengthens others\' faith and helps us to stay the course on what we have decided to accept and believe in our being as truth.
Loving you and Eddie, Donna
