People!!!!

Anyone remember "the good ole days"?? When people actually visited or called on the phone???
Nowadays....we have to "make an appointment" to see someone, otherwise, they might be offended or too busy.
Nowadays...we have to text or e-mail, and then they answer us whenever they  feel like it....if they answer at all....
Wow...technology is good....but ever has our social skills suffered from thosse who rely on it too much!!

I think technology is over rated. It is suppose to make life easier but all it does is make us work less, and with less effort for what\'s really important. I totally agree that we rely too much on it. There is great reward in knowing that you worked hard for something.....

Awesome observation NA.... I grew up with right at 64 first cousins in my family and we visited them all or most at Grandma\'s house almost every night..Even though it took a lot out of us and school suffered somewhat there were tremendous advantages that I see now... We all studied together in Grandma and Grandpa\'s living room...It was nothing to have 8, 10 or more kids in the living room doing homework together...I think that\'s where I got my good start in school from learning from siblings older than me and then I would pass on education from my previous grades to the younger as well.. Then we could go outside and catch lightening bugs or play hide and seek for catch for an hour or so or until the folks realized we were still out in the dark...We got away with murder, well almost as bad at times..

So you\'re right to say people today have no idea and have little or no social skills and I can tell when I tell them what kind of growing up days we had together . They hardly believe when I tell them how much fun we had growing up... We carried on the visiting ritual just as our parents did with their parents for about 15 years as it was our responsibility but life changes eventually. Everyone seemed to have moved too far to visit and stay together...

We do still get together on the Internet on Facebook and share good times and good tidings of love and laughs of days past.. I truly believe that soon after I retire in about 10 months I will try to retrieve all that I miss in my youth and we will begin by sharing our lives together as we do get together every year about twice a year for reunions and vacation..Even that gets to be alot...Can you imagine 30 people some with kids some with elderly parents getting together in Gulf Shores, Ala and enjoying the beauty..I hope we never lose that reunion and vacation . I don\'t get a whole lot of sleep but I do take time to talk with each of my 50 or so friends here and on Facebook with each mail...

I remember that I was usually the one doing the ringing. Whatever medium we use to reach out, a little reciprocity from the people we reach out to is crucial. I\'ve found in \'adulthood\', people don\'t really put much work into maintaining friendships (myself included when my pride takes over and tells me to stop doing all the work. Then I get super lonely enough to start chasing again but it\'s a rare friend that does the inviting).

I see I didn\'t finish what I was talking about .....I think you are right about hoe the computer age has decked havoc with our schochel interactions now if the younger generation want to break up they just send a nasty text they say things they would never say to there faces ..our.children get after there children over that and if they are caught mis using there phones they are taken away .........I have seen kids have fights over the sell phones and they are a nasty ......a hole new nene ration is growing up not having to talk face to face ....I think technology. Has its place. But young adu lts schould be toyght some restraint when it comes to talking in the phones they need classes on it ........when we had the old telephone we had to watch what we said because there was always someone around to here you these kids don\'t have that and they all seam to want to out do each other .......and the things they think are privet on there Owen phone is ot prover it is obout there for the world to see they meed to know that ..they are beginning to learn but for me it is coming to slow kids don\'t know how to play out side eney more they would rather play there games in doors ...my one son found his two girls were becoming increasingly hard to Handel blowing up when told to put away the game or turn off a w so one day hebdecided to get rid of all his canals and just got net flicks and it was much cheaper and they would make the kids go outside a god play and for a while they complained there was nothing ti do and they have a huge property so he said make a cabin so they started to learn to find all kinds of things tips do out side and they both got to pick one show to watch And it was like night and day the change in the kids no more fighting and talking back ....my son said it was the best thing he ever done ........ It is very hard to get the family together they are all spread out know we get together at funerals and weddings that is kind of sad because we enjoy eachothers companies so much ...but like you say everyone is spread out and mostly both parents working leaves only the weakened for groceries vane laundry and cleaning hose ......I am happy you get to enjoy your reunions ........I find they are so costly and it is always thebsamebpeople doing the cleaning ......WE DO DO SOME BIG BITHERDAYS LIKE WHEN MY MOM TURENED 80 that was a blast Brings back some good memories I think you are right 1isa1a1a. Take care everyone god bless
