ok so nothing new on the ex front. no word from him in any sort of positive way at all. Despite the fact that I am only 48, I am joining the senior dating and sexuality group.
Why? Because I swear I could live w/o sex for the rest of my life, and no man is going to get a chance to screw me over ever again.
It's all about companionship now. Will not be anything more than that. I can't go the abstinance/waiting for marriage crap because guess what? I am not sure I ever want to be married!! I just want a committed companion who I can trust and I thought I had that with the ex. Apparently he is still thinking with his penis as most men in my experience do.
No thanks, I would rather be alone than have someone use me and leave me when things get too "close". I just don't intend to get "close" ever again! Problem solved!

Hey Stableone. I joined the senior dating and sexuality group too although I turn a mere 47 this year. That discussion group is a bit dead though. I sent Doug a suggestion to make a web site for those of us ready to date again after a divorce, breakup or death of a spouse. Hope he listens. I know you miss your x, as he took up a lot of your caring and compassion, and now you have no place to put all that emotion. Been there, done that. But, I\'m finding that the best guys to date now are the friends made from decades ago when one or both of us were unavailable and friendships were formed without sex or marriage as the ultimate goal. My first romantic experience since divorcing was with a classmate I know from years ago when we were both married. He is in the midst of his second divorce and we are in exactly the same place emotionally. Never want to be married again, but really want someone we can trust and care about and who will trust and care about us. Due to geography and some other circumstances, including his wish to reconcile with his soon to be x that has left him, that relationhip has turned into a phone and e-mail relationship. But, we will always stay close friends as we have so much in common and have known each other for decades. One of the \"circumstances\" that also contributes to our no longer being romantically involved happens to be my new relationship with another old friend that was a co-worker of mine during my first divorce. He was married back then, but he and his family were very good to me during that difficult time. I could always tell back then, that he cared for me, but was such a decent man, he would never take any risk of cheating on his wife or hurting his children. And, I like wise would have never put him in that position. His wife died several years ago, so now we are dating. Naturally, we are both afraid to get too close, but for different reasons. But, I know that I can count on him for anything I need, including companionship, trust, and friendship. Please don\'t give up the ship yet. Just look to your past for a relationship that already has a foundation on which you can rely. I\'m sure you can think of at least one guy that you wish you had dated, but circumstances prevented it. Odds are now, with so much divorce out there, that the guy is available. Thanks for letting me ramble on. I just had to tell someone my story, and the divorce and breakup community would not understand dating again. Good luck.
