I'm finding working 9 till 5 pretty difficult, and at the end of the day I'm always ready to go home. Ive admitted that I find it hard work and my boss seems to think this makes me lazy or something :( She told me that when Marc Jacobs interviews his employees he insists they don't have relationships-as they are too time consuming and asks them weather they are prepared to work all night (marc Jacobs only gets two hours sleep per night) I told her I would rather be unemployed than do that but she thought differently. She said people in fashion are prepared to do anything for their passion. Its make me think, am I that passionate about it? Maybe not, maybe I won't get very far in fashion- in fact I definatly wont. but by the sounds of it I dont want to be. I love my boyfriend, I want to have kids someday and I still want to be able to do things I really enjoy like walking and reading and just...chilling! Its made me feel realy miserable. I thought my internship would enhance my career, all I've learnt is that I haven't got what it takes. My happiness is the most important thing in the world to me- I've sacrificed it for my passions before, and I promised myself I would never get like that again. I refuse to do something that isnt fun and will make my life miserable. Why can't I get respect for that?

When you get up there in years and you look back at your life, there is not much I want to remember about my work life, and I was one of the best. Instead you tend to think of your relationships and the fun times. If you throw yourself 100% into your work I guarentee that you have nothing to look back on fondly. Your bosses are wrong and I doubt that they have personal lifes outside the marketplace. Stick to your guns as you do indeed have the right things in mind. Eric
I think you can reach a compromise . Who can work 24/7 even on their passion? As Eric says, it is those you care about who mean the most in your life. Work is seldom easy and is never always fun. However, I think the the apparel industry is tough and fickle. I hope you can find a niche that doesn\'t require you to give up your personal life. HUGS
Good question? Why can\'t YOU? YOU are deserving afterall. Life is about balance, work plays a very important part in who YOU are, if YOU do not enjoy your work YOU will not do it properly and become a liability to all, who suffers the most under that circumstance? YOU do. My advice is get out, I am with YOU friend? And by the way, how have YOU been? I did say sometime back from memory that I would pay YOU a visit again sometime in the future, that sometime has finally arrived.
