My 25 year old Bi-Polar son has gone on another tangent about being all grown up and independent and how he doesn't need us holding him back. How he doesn't need our sorry "butts".  He LIVES with us, we take care of his chld, we buy his food, gas ect. He hasn't worked in 18 months, not because of illness but because there are no jobs around here. He has "fallen off the wagon"  twice in the last 6 weeks, doesn't attend AA anymore and tells us to just leave him alone and let him make his own mistakes. We would if we didn't have to pick up the pieces from his messes. So irratating. He rambles and rants and repeats.
Sorry hard day.

Sounds rough, so sorry, he is like the artist on the high wire and you are the net always catching him, perhaps you should do what he has asked of you. Taking care of your grandchild is one thing and I understand that, but he is old enough and you do not have to pick up his messes any more. I know as parents that is what we want to do but our job is to let them go. I know it isn\'t easy, I have a stepdaughter from my exhusband, she and I are very close, and financially she has put her and her husband into a bad spot by going to a private college for 1/2 of her undergraduate and her masters. The student loans are huge she works with autistic children and he is a night time stocker at Walmart. I want to be able to take her loans and pay them. I can I am on disability and financially over the years fibro has taken its toll on me. When I can I have given them money as a gift. Her mother has money but she makes it hard to ask and would expect interest on top of principle. I want to make it all go away for her, but I can\'t. I am sure you are feeling the same way.

Is there a way to get him into an outpatient behavioral program to get him back on track? My friend\'s husband did that after a \"breakdown\" from work. He deals with multiple issues. It helped. He, however, seems similar to your son since he just wants to be miserable all of the time. I wish you the best. I hope it gets easier for all of you. Big hugs and prayers.
