You are not selfish -- just in shock, fog, numbness and trying to survive. I\'m very glad you know he is okay -- many seem to worry about this. Please know that the first few months are very hard -- it is difficult to concentrate, to accomplish any goal no matter how small. People who are not widowed have no idea how you feel, and say things like \"you\'ll find someone else\" \"everything happens for a reason\" etc. etc. etc. NOT what you need right now. I have faith in God - was raised as a Christian - so this helps me cope. My husband was sick a long time and has been gone 4 years. Even tho\' I knew he was \"terminally ill\" there was still a great feeling of loss and pain that overwhelmed me at first. None of us are prepared for this total loss of our \"other half.\" We were married 50 yrs. and 8 mo. - so that\'s a very long time.
