Unappreciative I like giving gifts which can be useful. I avoid sentimental gifts. But this years seemed to be different. As i walked with my sons in the mall, we passed a jewelry store. I have not given my wife a piece of jewelry since we bought our rings. i entered and looked at all the distasteful settings designers come up with. but that setting advertised on TV, the so called 'journey' seemed nice. I asked to look at it and just on a whim bought it for my wife. I asked my son to hide it and he hid the box well - deep into the baughs of the christmas tree. But he left the bag under a chair in the kitchen. Unbeknownst to me, my wife cleaned said kitchen and found all the paper work, including what it was and cost... And to top it off, after this discovery, my wife kept asking what i got for her. i said it was a secret. So the moment came. My son snatched the box out of the tree and tossed it to me when my wife's back was turned. I presented the box and she opened it. I was expecting surprise and joy. What did I get? A question - "can I return this? I wanted a ring!!!" Needless to say, she will NEVER get another wasteful piece of sentiment form me. I have never given her a flower due to an incident in college where i gave hand picked flowers to a girl I liked and she came back to me and said in a mean tone, "Thanks for the flowers. They had ants in it. Now I have ants all over my room!!!" This is why men have issues with women. They sometimes know how to hurt us badly. We try to show caring and sympathy and tenderness, then the door gets SLAMMED in our faces. Ugh.....
