:(

Im so sick of my savings sitting there waiting to be used up in operations.
My bill for my surgery next year and my anaethetist came today...$880 and he'll be roughly $600 out of pocket. I DON'T HAVE A JOB, I AM EFFING SICK DON'T YOU GET THAT!?
He isn't the same anaethetist as before. Which I was hoping for. I have the money there but I hate seeing it go to someone like him, money hungry arsehole. He'll get about $350 or so as it is from my operation, why does he need so much more! I'm so sick of being sick. Im so sick of all this money being lost, Jase said it'll be alright thats what my savings are for... I want to have things in life, at this rate all i'll have is the ability to have operations.
I just want to scream.

I\'m so sorry sweetie! This WILL get better. I know endo effects every area of our lives, even savings. The surgery is necessary, and Jase is right, that\'s what your savings are for. One of the treatments WILL work, at least enough to make you feel well enough to work a bit. Be very glad you are not in the U.S. Our healthcare system is such a mess - my last outpatient surgery cost $30,000USD! You read that right. If I didn\'t have insurance, I would be bankrupt. As it was, I only had to pay about $3500. And I am one of the lucky ones! Hang in there sweetie - it will get better, I promise! You are so young and have so much of life ahead of you - DON\'T GIVE UP!!!!

I don\'t know what I would do if I didn\'t have medicaid . It must be so frustrating for you . I owe hospitals all over ...I figure they can\'t take what I don\'t have. Hope everything works out ::hugs::

Thanks ladies, at the moment I am waiting for the gyno\'s office to open, I\'m calling up and explaining I can\'t afford this aneathetists $600 out of pocket fee! So they will then change me to a day when the other aneathetist works last time he was $100 out of pocket. From now on if I need surgery I will remember to ask for the cheaper one! eek!

*hugs*

Did you know that you can call the billing department and negotiate these bills? Many default and to avoid that, the doctor and / or hospital will often knock 10-25% if you settle up within 30 days. Tell them you have no job and there is often an application to be filed for \"charity\" care that you will not need to pay at all, or very little. Be prepared to prove your financial situation with tax returns, unemployment correspondences, your last pay stub. I know you are in AUS and it is a little different, but these things are roughly equal. Do look into reducing this bill and all future ones until you are making enough money and have good insurance. Remember you can ALWAYS negotiate the bill, even if denied charity care. Good luck!
