As if it's not bad enough that I have to deal with the death of my son, now I'm hearing that the newspaper had a field day with the story. Not exactly sure what was said but EVERYONE who read it said it was horrible and that I should never read it. Apparently it sensationalized the fact that he jumped in front of the train having no idea what his history was. Plus as I'm gathering from what few facts people are leaking out to me , the article was very graphic. Not only am I grieving but now have the sickening knowledge that he was a freak show to some people. He wasn't given an ounce of dignity. But I also have the wisdom to know it doesn't really matter what other people think, those people didn't know him, or me, so who the hell cares what anyone thought? I have to always remember that.

I have learned these past few years that the media does not care a whit about anyone\'s feelings. The more sensational, the more dramatic - the happier they are. You\'re right: it doesn\'t matter what strangers think. Those who know you and love you are the only ones who count. Be gentle with yourself - you need all the tenderness you can get. God bless - Barbara

Sensation sells and we can point the finger at the media, but if people didn\'t like it, they wouldn\'t buy it which makes me question human nature. I am so pleased that in you head at least, you know it doesn\'tt really matter what anyone else thinks, but in your heart I know it is very painful. As you say, it is bad enough that you have to deal with his death. When my son had his accident so many people had theories and advice about how you shouldn\'t ride with a bag in your back or that the BMX track isn\'t designed for mountain bikes. There was an article in the paper about how they thought he must have been trying a stunt. I tried not to let it bother me, but it did. My husband rang the newspaper and gave them the correct story which they printed, but they were so fast to jump in and find fault and print it without any facts at all. Our boys are better off out of this rat race. They are gentle souls who are now protected from the harshness of this world. Hugs, Charlotte.
