Torn.........

The juvenile detective emailed me the other day about the meeting we were suppose to have regarding our parent drug education program.  He said that he'll have to move it back until the end of February because he's been very busy.  He also asked if my husband and I would attend our city council meeting to support the police department because the city plans to lay off an officer.  Although we personally have been very blessed to have the "good cops" help us back in the day of our son's troubles, I am not pleased with what I've been hearing lately on how "they" handled some situations.  Additionally, I already appeared before the council last year, asking them to keep our family services program in the budget.  I actually wrote a "speech" and read it to the council and sent emails and talked to the members individually.  Since anything you say at a council meeting is public record ~ my talk ended up being posted on the web ~ word for word.  I cannot have this happen again.  It wasn't as if I included our personal story in support of the family services but if I do the same for the police department ~ I don't know.  Would I have to give a reason why?  It would have to be because of a personal encounter to make any kind of impact.  
The reason I'm wrestling with it is because I need the detective and the DARE officer for my programs and other advocacy work plans.  And I have been blessed to have had their compassionate help.  I wish I would have collected the names of those who were so understanding and supportive because I've been hearing too many negative stories about some of them, lately.  It's a sticky situation because of my friend, too.  I must pray about it.
