wow

Yesterday I met with the executive director of our "local" adolescent drug treatment facility to "compare notes" from a tour we took separately.  I visited the place already so I set up a meeting with him and the exec. director of another facility in another state (where I grew up) to tour and talk about what they do.
If anything I was hoping he would get excited about improving the way they are doing things now. I didn't expect in a million years that he would consider working toward giving kids longer stays.  Much longer! I was floored.  Our state or county doesn't have the money to help AND our treatment center doesn't have the support of the community like the one I sent him to look at.  I didn't think it was possible.  Now I'm motivated again to continue on......
My oldest son's interview went well!  He even went shopping and bought new clothes and shoes.  I didn't think he'd do it! That was big!  I am proud of him.  About the interview the one thing he said he said he wasn't sure if helped or hurt him was a question about how he'd feel or if he'd be willing to contact someone who would have to be evicted.  He said couldn't do it.  He was honest - which was good but if that would have been part of his job - not good.  It's a collections law firm.

A) I hope he\'s motivated all the way to finding some money. Or at least something positive comes of it. After you\'ve seen the best, it\'s hard to go with the rest....
B) I would guess it\'s best that your son say the truth right now about what he\'d do in that situation. That took courage too. And honesty, which you said. I hope they hire him anyway. There must be someone else there who could pick up the phone. Still crossing my fingers.
