Overwhelmed
At least I was overwhelmed yesterday. Too early in the day to feel that way but I decided to take a deep breath and take one thing at a time.
Yesterday I went for my surgery consultation. I love the doctor who will be performing the surgery! She was so comforting and explained everything very thoroughly. The first thing she said was that she's sorry that I have to go through this. I told her that I'm fine and that this surgery is actually a good distraction. That comment might have sounded a bit strange but that's okay. Anyway, I go for pre-op stuff later this month and then I have my surgery on Sept. 6th. Funny - but I already looked into on the Internet and figured out how they are going to do the procedure and I was correct. One of the good things about this is it is going to be outpatient - so I can go home that day. Poor hubby.
J was moping a good part of the day yesterday - watching the movie The Planet of the Apes for the second day in a row. He NEVER watches movies. Well - I don't think he was actually watching it - kinda staring and sleeping on and off on the couch. When I came downstairs yesterday morning all the lights were on and so was the TV. When he does that - it isn't good. Not sure if he drank or if it has to do with the medication but I didn't ask. Later he got up - went to a coffee house and then later played tennis with his buddies. This morning he was in his bed. A good sign - I guess.
Today I hope either he calls the doctor or lets me to check on his appointment. When he was released the hospital made appointments for him but the one doctor he chose wasn't the one he should see (at least that's what he told me). J found that out when he went to see his former doctor and told me that the doctor would make an appointment for him to see someone else and would get in touch with him. So I hope he gets this settled because he can't not stop taking the mood stabilizer. I know what happened when he was in high school (before we knew it was bipolar) explains why he did that strange behavior while taking only the depressant. It apparently put him in a manic state. His mood swung over way too far. We can't have that - especially with the drinking. He didn't drink in high school. One day at a time......
Oh - on top of preparing for the classes I'm going to teach for the next two weeks - I receive an email from the organization that is hosting the opiate convention. I was asked to submit a type of outline, whether or not I will be giving out handouts, if I'm bringing my laptop, etc. This is freaking me out because the other day they sent me a contract to fill out and send back too. I have no idea what I'm doing yet. And they want it ASAP! Crap!
