whew....
This morning we found a note that T wrote to us. It said not to wake him up for school because he didn't get to sleep until 4:30AM. Yeah - right, like I'm going let him stay home. I thought - here we go again but I was determined that he was gonna go, but ready for a battle. He gets to sleep in, anyway, for goodness sake! The van doesn't pick him up until 11AM!! Well, he got up without giving me a difficult time. Later today I met with the juvenile detective. He wanted to talk about what his role will be regarding the parent drug presentation my husband and I will be doing - really nice guy but I'm just a tiny bit nervous around him because I associate him with T's crap - especially having to meet with him at the police station. I used to be very nervous meeting with him when I first approached him with the parent resource packets. Did I mention he's cute? That could be part of the reason I'm nervous. Nah - just kidding about that one. - Anyway, he said the presentation is very good. Apparently the Principal at the middle school gave him an older print out I had given him awhile ago so he was ready to compliment me on it. He said he'll support it anyway he can - even is going to contact another local paper to get the information in. Good - it is nice to get some help. Not sure if it will happen, however, because follow- through isn't his best trait. Maybe he will surprise me. I also told him of my long term idea/project and he said the police department would certainly support it, too. After these presentations are completed, I want to start focusing on a town/parent advocacy program. We'll have a website to promote different activities that are available for kids between 12 and 15. It will also be a resource place for parents to go to. We may have events. Just at thinking stage.... he liked what I mentioned. Maybe this will happen. Other things have...
