sigh.........

Had a two good days with T at home for in-school suspension.  He was home practically the entire time.  Only went out for a short time with a friend I approve of.  His behavior?  He was respectful and helpful most of the time.  Doing his part by helping out with chores and doing them well.  He did have a fit, however, the day after I cleaned his room.  I saved 99% of his junk but somehow threw out one of his "treasures".  I apologized and told him I would look through the garbage outside the next day.  He decided to have his fit - banging around and swearing - at 11:30 at night, waking us up and wanted to go through the garbage then.  Anyway, he ended up going through the garbage himself the next day but never said a word to me.  My husband found that he had the treasure placed back on his dressser.  He also brought the few things I threw out back in his room.  One was old middle school papers - and they were nothing special.  He always been this way.  Even in high school he's been known to pick through our garbage and haul old broken baby toys out of the heap.  Now I try and throw things like that out when I know he won't see them.   Like I said, we had a two good days.  Today?  Our alarm didn't go off and my husband was even late the second day in a row.  It didn't affect T yesterday but it did today so I called in an excuse.  Well, hours later?  He's still home.  I couldn't get him up.  I told him that I wouldn't call in an excuse now.  Frustrating.  I have to let it go, however.  It isn't easy watching him digging his hole deeper.  One step forward, two steps back.  Progress not perfection....ugh.....
