Ok --- you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. The school called telling me that T wasn't feeling well. I asked if they could possibly keep him there. The attendance lady said no, the clinic only allows the students to be there for 20 minutes. So....I go up to the school and bring him some sinus meds because he said he had a sinus headache, thinking he'd stay and ride it out. While up there the assistant principal and I talked, making T wait. We had a nice talk...I like him - he's so supportive. Afterward, T and I leave and go back home. Next thing I know T is taking a shower, comes down and eats and tells me he feels better and wants to go back to school, telling me the sinus meds kicked in. The detention officer was not happy with me last time for bringing him back to school after he came home sick. She didn't like the yo-yo back and forth crap. Fine. So this time he tells me he wants to turn in his homework and catch the last part of math. So.....I call the asst. principal first and ask him what I should do since he was more accessable. He told me to bring him back. In the meantime the detention officer calls me back (only has a pager and seldom calls me back right away) while we on the way to school only to read me the riot act. I understand her concern and told her that I will tell T no more, that once he leaves school he's done for the day. When he leaves school.......he's done......period. I get mixed messages from every which way, it is just a pain in the neck. Oh.......when I talked to the assistant principal.......I KNEW he knew I was the one who was indirectly responsible for the heroin bust at the high school one town over. He fished around enough to make it obvious he knew. That's okay. I am glad they know there are parents who want to help kids. This girl, who was busted, was 3rd in her class (a big school no less) headed for an Ivy League school.......she was expelled, arrested, shamed, and yet.....she told my son on-line that she was glad she was caught because she wanted help. She was that good at hiding it...... My prayers are with her.......
