I know T is struggling being on home detention BUT he is finding things to do by himself. He got out my husband's old camera and started taking pictures (he's taking journalism in school), he's in the process of CLEANING HIS ROOM AND WE NEVER ASKED OR TOLD HIM TO! I think I'm in a dream! He's also working out with weights a lot. Something he's always has done, even in his drug addicted state but now he's playing "nicer" music while he lifts. He is now jovial....jokes, smiles, easy to be around. Before he was angry all of the time, constantly on the phone and computer but now........ I know we can't keep him in this bubble forever but I am hoping that he continues to stay away from drugs. Tuesday I will find out more - possibly if he gets accepted into drug court or not. I was told by his detention officer to push for it. So I did. I called the drug court "decision maker" and she basically said that my son isn't eligible because of a number of reasons. I accepted it, at first, but then I found myself asking her if we could please just try it. He's come so far and as far as the offenses are concerned, he committed them so long ago. She then told me that she would talk to someone else and get back to me. I've been praying about it, asking God to direct us in the right direction. Should I be pushing for this? Is this the right way to go? When religious people (ones I've known who've told me they've done this) pray to God to guide them to made the right decision, they later are very confident that when they do....it was the right one. Well, I've been praying and hard. In addition, I've been praying for all my DS friends and their loved ones. Treadmill and praying at the same time is a great combination.

I\'ll bear that in mind, when my treadmill arrives on Monday....I am just so so so glad that your son is turning out so well now. He will remember feeling this good, though - and it is just such a GOOD start...well done you..you have done something truly amazing here, sorting all this out. Do hope he can get the support he needs, praying as well .. love ...Cathrynn XX
The ability to be self directed is a really positive sign!!! Given his home confinement, it may be that he finds the imposed limits/boundaries to be helpful and so he may be more open to a drug court program......You and your family are in my thoughts!
