Better today. I met the detention officer. She paid a visit today thinking T was home. She did get the message that he had to serve an old detention but got the kids mixed up....thinking it was another kid. I told her the detention wasn't for bad behavior, rather for a tardy. He didn't show up to serve it before so the next step was an after school detention. I told her that he is well behaved and respectful in school. She said we are lucky. I did tell her, however, it isn't always the case here at home. She was understanding. The second day of detention wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. He was angry at us for making him serve the detention he was trying to wiggle out of. He wanted to reschedule it when he had homework. The asst. principal and I both agreed he needed to serve it and get it over. Funny, he didn't talk to us or eat dinner with us because he was still mad. We couldn't figure out why he was behaving that way until he told us. He's losing his power and it doesn't feel good. I understand that! His dad and I have been living that for some months now. He needs to readjust his thinking and understand that he cannot do whatever he wants anymore or else there will be some strong consequences. Fortunately, the rest of the evening he was pleasant --spending most of it on the phone with his girlfriend. She is a good influence on him.

Consequences are not always easy to take, but they often make the best teachers!!! Take care!!
At least he is aware of the power shift; being reined in. The other bright spot is that he cares enough about himself to get through school without spending it in the VP office or sent home!!! Use that alone time to your advantage!!!!!! Take Care!
Glad things are going okay for you!
