Another sleepless night -- both nights I had a difficult time swallowing.  It feels like I have a lump in my throat.  I checked it out on line and I do think it's related to stress!  Strange how the body works.  There are some things I can do to relieve it so I will try that. T didn't go to his first class.  He told me wasn't going to go if I didn't buy him cigarettes.  Yes....in the past I did whatever it took to get him to go to school, even buying cigarettes.  Not this time.  I told him that when I did buy them for him there was a string attached to it....a promise he was to keep and he hasn't followed through on them.  No more!  My husband is starting to get it too.  Guess what?  He went to school!  My husband and I are learning.  I love it, too, that we are on the same page.  It took this family group for him to see the light!  Coming from me meant.....I'm smart and he's an idiot; I know how to parent and he doesn't.  That's far from the truth but that's, I'm sure, how he perceived it.  Talked to a woman last night.  I talked to her husband a couple of times for a few hours about addiction.  Got his name from my brother's friend's friend.  Anyway, that couple......what an inspiration!  Her parents were both addicts, her husband (he's recovering and a drug counselor) , and now her son, 22,  who has been in rehab 10x's.  Currently he's recovering.  The strength this woman had was simply amazing.  She said it took a lot of work and it did take time to get to where she's at now.  Her husband (he was great to talk to) started using at 14.  As a young adult he stopped using, became a drug counselor and then relapsed 4 years ago.  He was using while his son was in recovery!  Fortunately, it didn't last long because he had the tools to get back on track.  It's awesome to hear positive stories.....it gives you hope and it and makes you see, even more, that one can endure even when powerless over this ugly addiction.   If anything it renewed my faith.
