Met with the principal and guidance counselor today to come up with what our son will be doing while he's in the program.  He leaves a week from today.  Lately, he hasn't seemed "as bad".  Guess we are getting used to the new norm and forget how much better and nicer he used to be.  I hate the swearing and smoking.....and blatantly in front of us.  He also has no regard for our rules.  In fact, we've become so broken down that we really don't have any or enough right now.  So, hopefully, this program will help us to get back on track.  I want our serene life back - especially when he returns.   Have to laugh (yes we do need to find humor despite our despair) - as we were leaving our meeting, we ran into the assistant principal.  He was the one who wrote up the double suspension for our son.  The second suspension was for signing not his name on the first suspension notice but the words F U.  Well, when the forms came in the mail it had the words actually spelled out.  We were humoring the asst. prin. and told him that we were surprised that he actually had it typed out in print what our son wrote.  He said that clarity was important.  Then he chuckled and said he did find humor in this and was going to ask our son why his parents could be so mean to name him that!  We laughed.  We have to now.....or we would cry.  Fortunately, up until this incident our son has been very respectful to the staff and teachers so they do like him.  I told the principal that we were afraid to send him back to school before he goes to rehab because we have concerns.  The principal said that this is his school, too.  So.........keeping our fingers crossed.........
