In two days we have our court date and T decided again not to go to school.  Surprised?  No.  Yesterday he was gone all day, again.  He didn't come home until 11:30 PM.  He said he went to a concert with a bunch of friends.  Nice of him to let us know where he was going.  He did say that he did stop by to change his clothes and we weren't home.  It was a last minute decision and he was in a hurry and didn't think to call us from the home phone.  T said he meant to let us know but then forgot because he didn't have much time.  At least he said that whether he meant it or not.  By the looks of what he left behind, it does look like he was in a hurry. Our oldest called last night feeling a little down.  This is extremely unusual. He isn't involved in the Christian youth group this semester because of the new RA position and didn't want to be over scheduled.  Plus transportation would have been an issue without a car.  He ended up calling this organization about getting another leadership position but the guy hasn't returned any of his calls.  He is wondering why.  This group has always been important to him and without this interaction with other people - especially this group - it's pulling him down.  He also said having a room of his own makes him less disciplined.  He can do what he wants (which doesn't seem like a bad thing) but it's difficult for him to motivate himself.  He says his sleep patterns are all off on the weekends....staying up until 4 or so watching movies and then sleeping all day - which makes getting back on track during the week difficult.  I tried encouraging him and offered him some suggestions.  The one thing I told him is that he needs a change of scenery.  I challenged him to make a committment to himself that he will after classes, and a full belly, to take his lap top and such and go to the library everyday.  I also told him that on his way, he has to call me.  I also told him that I am having a difficult time making the committment to myself to walk everyday.  Since we are both having a hard time right now....I told him I when he reports to me....I will have to report to him.  I also suggested that he take a walk or go to the gym and get some exercise, everyday.  I've always suggested that to him in the past but that was the one thing he never seemed to follow through with.  He was on a couple of teams...soccer and hockey....just for fun....in the past -  I need to ask him about that.  He is feeling pretty isolated right now.  This is the forgotten child.  Always self- sufficient....always happy.  I can't forget about him.  I hope my counsel helped.    Tomorrow we or just my husband will have to make a trip out to J's college to see what the deal is.  J may be coming home.......
