PenPal sent me a hug saying that she hoped no news was good news. I wish that were the case. Yesterday the weather was so beautiful I decided to go for a brisk walk at our local park. I put my headphones on which helped me to walk a steady, quick pace. I was really enjoying myself. Unfortunately, I had to shift gears (emotionally) when I arrived back home. As you know, my "baby" T-Man (16 thinks he's going on 25 but acts like he's 5) has been truant from school for a couple of weeks now. Well, when I left to go on my walk, I left him a note telling him that I would be back shortly (he was still sleeping) and when I returned I discovered that our van was missing and so was he! He doesn't even have a permit yet to drive, let alone a license! Obviously, I called the police to report a stolen van. In the meantime, he comes home with the van (that we are return today - lease is up) and hands me the keys! And do you know what this son of mine said when I asked him what the heck he was doing? He calmly told me that it was no big deal (he knows how to drive because he drives his friend's car all the time). I told him it was against the law (like that means anything to him) - not to mention it scared me. I even threw in that I had a hair appointment. In all this craziness he said he knew I had an appointment at noon...that's why he came back so soon! What? Little did he know that I had called the police.....so within minutes an officer arrived. My son then bolted from the house saying to me that he couldn't believe I called the police! He said he planned on returning right away! Aside from the fact it was wrong....how would I have known that anyway? See what I am dealing with? Well, he was nabbed and spent a few hours behind bars. The office called me on my cell at the hair salon (yes I made it) to tell me that my son was ready to be released. The detective, Kevin, suggested I wait for my husband before picking him up. I had mixed feelings about picking him up by myself because I didn't want to be subjected to T's verbal abuse. Well, my wonderful hubby suggested I go and get him and not wait any longer because the caged animal would be worse if we waited. I should have waited. My once very sweet son....screamed at me for calling the police. It was my fault. Of course, I don't believe that but he seems to think that. He was so angry that the police officers took away his new pack of cigarettes (yes....that was why he took the van ....to buy some) that he wanted $5 from me so that he could buy a new pack! What? I told him that I wouldnt' do that. He was so angry with me that he started spitting all over the extremely clean van we are going to turn in. I breaked quickly and told him I would take him back to the station. Wrong thing to say.....he almost jumped out of the moving van and almost causing an accident (cars behind us had to break suddenly). The police were trying to get him into juvenile detention but he doesn't meet the criteria because he hasn't been violent against us. They said to call immediately if that would happen. I will admit I thought (slightly) that he might do something to me - being that he was so angry- when he returned after I "dropped" him off on the way home....but he didn't. I know he wasn't under any influence and I know that he, by nature, is not a violent person...but....I was a bit nervous what he'd do the house. He didn't do anything but look for change to get some smokes. So that was my day. Oh.........and last night..........he came home before we did....and even said goodnight! He was pleasant. Maybe this experience did affect him some....for the better....

You had to work hard for that pleasant good night!
I, too, was worrying about what was happening and what was happening to you.
At least for the record, I think it was good you called the police. You may have to start documenting things, because it seems nothing will get done without that.
Best possible at this time to you and yours!

oh no hun what a day you have had! i cant believe he has to be violent to you to fit the crireria, its complete madness! here for you.x.x.xx
I hope that he acted out at the police station -others could see that he had an emotional response out of proportion to what was happening at the moment. That is what worries me..(intensity of reaction to a situation).....I would agree with you that you shouldn\'t be alone with him in these situations; you need back up either physical and/or emotional.
In the meantime, hide the keys. I think you\'re liable if you do not take measures to prevent him from driving and he does (and is in an accident).
Good for you, taking a walk! Keep it up and TAKE CARE!!!!
